What's new

All Star Weekend Thread

I wondered about how clueless this sounded, until I saw the poster, and realized he was partially trolling again. Today's music isn't significantly different from 40 years ago.
Sorry guys, as someone that listens to metal, Cy cannot be all that wrong. Hence, I have to conclude y'all are, have been and will be wrong and Cy has been preaching true words all along.

Oh lol someone might have trolled internet but I defo saw someone writing in our reddit comments... He seemed serious. Would have been fun though.
Haven't they done that as a team challenge thing before, like 1 current player, 1 WNBA, 1 retired, 1 celebrity, something like that?

I'd actually love it if they found a way to make it have some of the things things that guards can typically do better (3 pt shots, etc) and some that bigs can do better (smashing through 3 barriers while dribbling or something). Then you could have a fair competition between different types of players.

We all know trolls never deny they are trolling.
I honestly dont know how it's trolling.

I'm not saying 40 years ago every single piece of music was a single stream of influence, but on the whole, current popular music is much more genre fluid and nearly everything is heavily hip-hop influenced.

You can probably look at the top 10 on the country charts right now and I bet there are at least a few songs that have a trap inspired high hat beat or a snap track.

Three-point contest participants are expected to include Lauri, Dame, Simons, Hield, Herro...possibly Beasley...possibly Haliburton. The list doesn't appear to be finalized.

40 years from now, you'll have some kid telling you how you can't appreciate how much genre X has influenced the range of popular music. I wonder if you'll be self-aware enough to recognize yourself in that kid.

I would think Lauri has a good shot at that. Would be fun to see him win multiple events at ASW.

We need Sexton in the skills challenge… you know he’s go so hard.

That's a good group. In today's NBA they have like 30 people to choose from who are all shooting lights out (38% or higher) from 3, most of them over 40%. It isn't like years past where there were clear options. In the years Horny won it, there were maybe 8 or 10 "elite" shooters and you knew a few of them would be in the contests, along with a couple of just pure scorers. But now they could bring in any of a few dozen guys and we would all be like "yep, makes sense". Crazy how this has shifted.

I doubt it because I make a pretty big effort to stay current in trends and generally seek out new music from every genre and not bitch and moan if something isn't tailored to my exact sensibilities.
