2023 Trade Rumors and Gossip Involving the Jazz

I think the Jazz will take a long look at both FVV and GT jr. I think Trent jr could be a good piece for the jazz depending on what happens with our player options.
My guess would be GTjr would be a target. FVV would be on the north side of 30 next season and I suspect the Jazz take a PG in the draft at 16 with the intention of letting them play meaningful minutes.

With the new CBA. Most teams will be able to keep 2 main guys right?

Wonder if we can use our cap space to snatch someone to pair with Lauri and make a run while bringing all our young rookies along for the ride.
This is right, I think. Ainge has always tried to create that two-window team of All-Star vets and dynamic young players. The most recent example being the Hayward-Irving/Tatum-Brown-Smart Celtics. Which might have really been something if it wasn’t derailed by injury for Hayward and whatever personality disorder Irving is dealing with.

Not interested in Siakham. Someone else can give him the vet max. I think he’s overrated. If you can get FVV for 30M per I think I’d have to do it… even though I have concerns. That’s the easiest move to jump to win now.

With regard to the two star versus three star thing. Can likely still have three stars on max or close to max deals if you’ve drafted one of them and they aren’t on a megamax… and you have picks or other ways to fill out the roster. Will be harder to trade for stuff to get a third star. Once Lauri is making 45M-50M a year it gets more difficult to maneuver… which is why we need to mail this draft.

Tent jr would be a big upgrade short term and long term over Clarkson if the price is reasonable. Fvv is a hell no.

I like GTJ although he reminds a bit of a younger Clarkson. They are about the same size, shoot alot of 3's, and both allergic to defense. JC, GTJ, and FVV are all repped by Klutch too. The rumor is Orlando might throw a contract at GTJ in FA.

FVV at almost 30 yo supposedly wants to go to a win now team but not many have the money to spend on him except thru a potential s&t. It's possible he could opt back in with Toronto if it doesn't look like he will get his $ in FA. FWIW most of the Toronto fans see him as a "me first" player and want him gone.

Between FA, draft, and trades there will likely be a ton of guard options available which is another reason I want the Jazz to find some way to draft a forward or big wing with their first draft pick.

I'm really interested to see what dudes like FVV and Kuzma get paid under this new CBA. I guess the idea is that you can only have two max players now, so will teams actually be disciplined about how much money they are offering to these kinds of guys?
The simple answer is no. And then they’ll have to spent a ton to offload them later.

Lol at think Trent Jr. Is a big upgrade over JC and simultaneously going hell no on FVV. If you want to win basketball games FVV>JC>Trent Jr.

Oh, you already covered the Orlando thing. . .

I would as well as long as Hardy gave his blessing. Atlanta is a **** show… gonna end up looking a bit foolish if they sell off Murray for 50% what it cost to bring him in… but may be the right move?

We also could do a renegotiate and extend with our excess cap space… they can’t cuz they have no space.
Sure I'd take Murray but Hawksquawk (FWIW) seems to believe if he's dealt it would be part of a package for a KAT or Jaylen Brown. ATL just gave up a big package of picks for him last year.

This would be important because Hardy spent a lot of time with him in San Antonio and saw him up close both on the court as well as in the locker room. Hardy would know better than anyone whether he would be a good fit or not.

Some of it will be out of their control… FVV and Trent may walk with no returning value. Poeltl too but I think he stays. I’m real curious what Masai does as the runway is really shortening on this iteration of the roster.
They don't control their pick next year so no incentive
