TMZ reports that Kobe Bryant passed away.

Well, it turns out that the day never came. What happened instead was just your standard apotheosis. Lakers are building statues, the All-Star Game MVP award is now named after Kobe, and he was elected to the Hall of Fame with nary a dissenting voice. The discussion never happened and we all know it never will. If anything, the more time passes, the more all this will be scrubbed from his legacy and the more automatic cries of "speak not ill of the dead" are going to get if anyone tries to talk about. Or the media will simply ignore it all.

Karl Malone is an idiot. He should've just died. The Lakers would be building a statue of him right now.

Details are fuzzy to me but didn’t the trial get thrown out because the girl refused to testify. I mean if someone assaulted you, you file charges against the suspect, but then refuse to testify causing the person to walk, why would you do that unless you were just looking for a pay day. It’s not like we’ve never seen several situations where a girl in traps a professional athlete like this for a payday.

I think due to very recent history you can’t just blindly trust women when it comes to this just look at how Johnny Depp’s life has been ruined, and others. The accuser in that whole situation came across as someone looking for a payday. You can’t say 100% that Kobe is guilty or the woman wasn’t lying. I bet Johnny Depp wishes we would’ve gotten all the facts before him being blackballed.

@Ron Mexico all you can do is give me an eye roll emoji. That’s what I thought. The me too movement has done more harm then good for women. There’s as many women lying to take advantage of it if not more than actual victims that come out and aren’t believed because of all the discredits fuzzies coming out of the woodwork that we are back to not trusting women. And everything on the Kobe situation reads more to that we can’t trust that woman, if she is telling the truth I feel for her. But who files charges then won’t testify? And don’t give me emotional scars because she did report him. At that point there’s no reason to back out unless your looking to get rich off an athlete making millions

I mean do you have any idea what Bryant going to jail for rape would have meant to the Lakers, the NBA, and all of his fans? There were a lot of powerful people lined up to destroy this woman. For all of the stupid things people get death threats over, I'd imagine this woman got several daily. Look at you. You really have no idea what the case was except for the innuendo that Bryant's people leaked to the press.

She took the civil payout because following through would have completely ruined her life. That's why the over-the-top Kobe love makes me sick. Dude raped that woman THEN destroyed her.
 
Yo, minivan, #metoo played a big part of guys like Harvey Weinstein, Jeff Epstein and Peter Nygård to get what sex offenders deserve. So stop. Also, on Kobe theme, he does not deserve love and appraisal nor deserved death - which I saw some stupid people in Twitter writing back then. I wish he was alive and behind the bars.

A truly terrible take.

For every woman who lied to get shamed for life there's a 100s or more who said nothing and got abused. It's truly telling that you say the details are fuzzy to you, but you stick to the guy who paid someone to be quiet.

I was thinking about this the other day when I saw the statue built for him. I figured there would be some public outcry against it, but I didn't see anything.
 
Duddenly her name was doxxed, where she livedavid Stern was the commish at the time, and Kobe going to prison just wasn't going to happen. The lawyer Kobe/NBA hired made it very clear that she was going scortched earth on the woman. Suddenly the gal's name, address. phone number were doxed. This was truly hardball.
 
This is court of public opinion. I’m no Kobe fan boy. But innocent until proven guilty. If I were wrongly accused I’d play hard ball too. If I had been assaulted in any way and pressed charges no amount of backlash would stop me. I’m not saying she was lying. I don’t know, neither do you. Unless you are Bryant or the girl everything else is opinion based. We live in America which means innocent until proven guilty. So that’s how we must treat this. Kobe was never found guilty. Like it or not that’s how I must treat this.

I’m sorry if you’re a woman who’s been raped and courageous enough to press charges. I don’t see how you back out.

There are plenty of women who have taken advantage of today’s age of protest and new awareness. Too much for my comfort. So if a woman acts a certain way I’m sorry but I’m not going to trust a woman or man for that matter till I have the facts. You can call me a scum or sexist all you want I could care less.

Basically you can have your opinion but at the end of the day Kobe was never convicted.

The girl had bruises on her neck and clear signs of rape during her vaginal exam.

Please remind yourself of the facts before coming here with all this victim blaming. It's really pretty disturbing.

End of day no convictions
 
What made it more disgusting for Kobe is that his wife had just given birth and the alleged victim was a desk clerk in the motel he was staying at. Kobe should also been awarded husband/father of the year.

Sure, no convictions. Kobe's own words after the rape that he believed served as a justification and rationalization of the incident, which was a rape, is what I consider when calling him a rapist. His own words, not hers. His words. He "believed" that she wanted him to have sex with her, despite her making very clear that she did not and he having to physically force her into a position that allowed him to have sex with her.

Either you believe in what the country was founded on or you don’t. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I’m just not willing to just believe someone’s word unless I know. I know Johnny Depp would have appreciated that. These are principles America was founded. Life isn’t perfect. God is if guilty he pays in the end. I’m not saying he’s innocent in the sight of God, but as far as the people goes, he’s innocent until otherwise
 
Just stop. You don't have to believe anything, and that's ok, but the need of defending the overall scumbag so ferociously is beyond pathetic. Yes,in paper he is not convicted. But still, whatever. He went out as rich, entitled wife cheating bastard nevertheless
