2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

Keyonte has obviously been given “the keys” this season but I’d guess the organization is still in an evaluation stage with him. If we’re in position to draft a lead guard who is 1) BPA and 2) someone they think could be better, I expect there would be no hesitation in taking him.

We’re still in the “no sacred cows” stage of the rebuild.

That said, I’m bullish on him and think he’s a franchise cornerstone regardless of who we take at 8-9. There’s room for multiple good guards and that’s almost certainly the floor of where he’d go in this draft.

At this point in the rebuild there is no reason to not draft a guy because they may play the same position as another guy. The nice part about the 3 guys we picked this year is that they have positional versatility so we can move them around and fit with most players.

Keyonte should not stop us from drafting another player. If they are both too good to exist on the same roster, that’s a good problem to have.
I do think if they draft Reed or Dillingham that they HAVE to move JC and should consider what the offers are for Sexton or Keyonte. Likely can roll with Sexton, George, and one other small guard for a season while they develop... but not something I'd be excited balancing long term.

But yeah I agree. I believe in the tiers "model" and then shuffling guys based on position if they are in the same tier. Just not sure what the tiers would be for me this year.

NONE of our players right now are good enough to stop us from drafting any specific player IMO. I kind of feel like center is pretty much the only position in today's game you can even begin to think about it entering your consideration. The rest of the positions on the perimeter are kind of fluid and I can't think of many great players that don't fit with each other. I guess ... if 2 guards can't shoot... or something of the sort... but overall, we should just be drafting the best prospects and worry about fits and conflicts later when we actually know who will be a long-term piece...

We should have already traded JC.

I don't think you necessarily have to solve a Sexton, Keyonte, whoever log jam unless you believe it directly prevents you from achieving whatever win goal you desire (I don't think we have an immediate win goal). As long as they are able to shine, I think you're ok. I'd think differently if it were two bigs or two non shooters where they looked a lot worse with each other....but it's not the case with these guards unless one or both are extremely ball dominant.

Yeah you just need them to get on the floor enough in the ideal role to allow them to develop and give you enough info to make decisions on. And yes its different than non-shooting bigs. You can survive with a small backcourt.

I definitely understand the idea that you don't not draft Jordan because you have Drexler, but I don't think this is that kind of draft. I think the talent level is pretty flat for big parts of the draft and I would just LOVE to see some type of roster construction thought going in to this draft.

It's more you don't draft a 6'1 guy when you already have two guys under 6'3 getting starter minutes.

If you believe his shooting from this year will translate to the NBA, then he could go lottery.

My guess is he gets picked just outside of the lottery, but ends up having a bigger impact than the majority of guys taken in front of him.
Won't be in my top 20 or 30 probably. Don't really believe
