Wikileaks front man Assange is set to enter a plea deal with the US and return to Australia. overall this is a decent outcome, all be it 10 years too late. I will openly admit I hate Julian Assange and I think he's a detestable person, however what he did with WikiLeaks was incredibly important and to my mind there should be a lot more of it. Unfortunately the person at the center of it is a repulsive narcissist. Hes done remarkably well compared to his fellow travellers. I hold a forlorn hope that once he gets home he shuts his mouth and doesn't make a **** of himself. I find this unlikely.
 
I don't like the idea of having a plea deal precedent set for a journalist that has been wrongfully imprisoned for exposing war crimes, but I am glad that he is free. It is long overdue. Journalism isn't a crime- exposing corruption and war crimes committed by the establishment is what he was serving time for. What about the folks that committed those crimes??
 
Assange isn’t a hero. Nor did he expose secrets to promote humanitarian efforts. He was a Russian stooge who released damaging information about the west. It’s funny how all of these alt media characters never seem to release information damaging to Putin’s regime. Wonder why?

Haha! I haven’t heard the equal opportunity argument before, that’s creative. I didn’t realize journalists had to somehow have intelligence agents in every government in the world all at the same time. How in the hell could somebody do that? No wonder journalism is so pathetic right now. So if he had exposed Russian crimes would it then be a problem that he didn’t expose enough Canadian, or Israeli, or German government war crimes?
You’re good with sending the government your tax dollars to do torture programs, and drone strikes, and whatever other evil things they can imagine, you just don’t want to find out about it, is that it?
You’re like some dumb ignorant house wife like on the Sopranos that is perfectly fine with the cheating and evil horrific crimes as long as she doesn’t have to find out about it and she can still buy her furs and high heels. How dare he expose Americans ignorance!! Execute him.

This really is the crux of it. People actually did this **** and they should be accountable not the whistleblower

I’m curious, where is Snowden living these days? What does he call “home?” The answer could be enlightening as to who supports Snowden and Assange.

Snowden is obviously a Russian spy dumbass. Somehow he was working for the NSA with little to no supervision making American intelligence look dumb. He’s outside of the democrat party so he’s an evil Russian in thrillers msnbc conspiracy theory world.
He probably like so many other Americans wondered how his country could be in perpetual war all over the world murdering people his entire life span and started to wonder about the pattern and question if we could really be the good guys in every conflict. Maybe he left the country once or twice in his life and wondered why so many people hate the American government so much. He’s definitely a spy though.

I love my country but I’m embarrassed that the government is completely corrupt and controlled by unelected warmongering billionaire oligarchs and the military industrial complex. I’m hoping that we can get the country back on track before it’s too late because there is no place to escape. I don’t make excuses for the fact that we have leadership that have gotten away with starting torture programs and lied it’s citizens into war after war after war. I think it’s disgusting and I’d like to see more Americans wake the hell up and quit making excuses for our obviously corrupt politicians on both sides. It’s not one side that’s corrupt and compromised in our government, it’s both sides. I don’t know how anyone could pretend otherwise.

I heard Russia is a veritable utopia. Hell they have shopping carts that don't roll backward!! I'm pretty sure we kill dozens if not hundreds every year from backwards rolling shopping carts alone.

Thing is Snowden isn't wrong. All of us deserve better than societies run by tyrants and old men with the sole purposes of maintaining a status quo of corporate power and greed and day by day accelerates our dispossession and enslavement to the corporate state.
 
Assange was a darling of the left when he rightly exposed Bush’s war crimes. But when he exposed their party’s ****, he’s a Russian spy.
