Tremendous Upside

Clearly a future 3&D guyCody is shooting 7/23 (30%) on 3PAs in summer league. (That doesn't count a last-second, off-balance heave at the final buzzer when the game was decided.)

Still trying to decide how much of the hesitation is innate and how much is lack of experience. I don’t care if fails, he just needs to keep attacking.I don't know what yall are talking about with the last game. He came on late with alot of buckets when the game was tight at the end. If you always look for negatives, you certainly will find them but I thought last game was a good game from Cody. I hope he can carry that end of the game aggressiveness into the regular season.

He’s got more tools than a lot of other projects. I think he’ll be in a good place to work on his game more this year so I’m withholding judgment until next June. I’m just glad we picked a lane and can now see if there’s any future in it.
You’re such a miserable ***-for-brainsJust checking in. Still bad.
I disagree a bit -- in my opinion you can always measure the quality of a shooter by what his misses look like.Jazz have let Cody shoot a few midrange jumpers in Summer League, and he's looked pretty good shooting them. It would be nice if that becomes a part of his game longterm. It would mean he can get open shots in the half court without just standing in the corner.
IIRC, Cody looked great in Summer League last year, and even his 3 looked decent. He is stronger this year, but not sure his overall game looks any better. Hopefully moving many of the vets puts him in a position to gain some confidence.I disagree a bit -- in my opinion you can always measure the quality of a shooter by what his misses look like.
Look at Curry's 3PAs that miss -- **** looks like it's gonna go in, and when it doesn't it still looks like it's gonna go in. Good back spin, in and out, etc.
Cody Williams has some of the most grotesque misses I've seen in Jazz uniform from a perimeter player. Barely grazes rim, weird ****ing bounces, occasional airball, and no consistent pattern between them. And yes, these have been happening this year in summer league too.
The one thing I noticed in this last game: he realized that his matchup simply couldn't guard him -- it took him a few quarters to figure it out but he finally did, and he was taking it to him. Imo the closest he's looked to an NBA player since he's been drafted.
Remains to be seen if this will ever be replicated in the regular season. At this point I just hope it continues to happen in summer league and preseason

Rookies go through the whole pre-draft process which is pretty grueling (though Ace didnt actually work out for anyone) then jump right into SL. Makes sense they would miss more games than 2nd year players.Cody at least wants to play Summer League. All our rookies are injured. What's up with the Jazz conditioning and training? You get in shape to play sports. You don't play sports to get in shape.
Based on what evidence? In my experience, the most miserable people on this board (who, for example, post the kind of crud we've been seeing about CW) are the hardest to get rid of.Honestly if there is ever a point where Cody gets good, we might lose half of the people who post on this board.
