What's new

anybody miss Jeffersuck?

Boozer and Okur were the same players before they got to Utah. That's why Utah signed them to huge free agent contacts and brought them here.

Millsap has developed though. Not in a typical big man way though since he's so undersized and his game is based on quickness and hustle. But he developed in Utah, definitely.

Wow, so wrong.

Boozer improved a ton.

Okur improved immensely. Doubling his highest scoring total in Detroit during his best year with Utah.

Malone is not walking through that door. Greg Miller was clear that he will never hire Malone. And even if he did, there would be huge distractions several times per year from their public disagreements.

Jefferson is one of the best post players in the NBA right now. No retired NBA player is going to duplicate battling Jefferson in practice ever day, and his personal tutoring after practice.

If it was so easy, the Jazz would have a much better track record developing big guys. It's not like they've never had young big guys with potential. Obviously not as much potential as Kanter and Favors. But wasn't Humphries the leading scorer in the Big 10 or something? And came into the league after only 1 year in college, as an athletic, ripped, 6' 10" kid who had tons of potential.

Humphries spent 6 years in the league doing jack ****. It was no team's fault he didn't develop.

Trade him and then what? Jeff Hornacek or Scott Layden starts banging with Favors and Kanter every day? Who works with them on developing their post games if Jefferson is gone?

A $14 million per year coach. Brilliant.

I don't think Jefferson is (pure) junk anymore, and I wish the guy the best, but that? That might actually, literally be the worst argument I have ever heard on this board.

Listen, I like Al, like many here, great dude, but you have to live and die with Al Jefferson offensively. His FG percentages basically can tell you if we won or not on any given night. Simply put he's not a guy to build a contender around because of his insane lack of defense and how much he dominates the ball offensively........IMO.

You don't have to live and die with Jefferson offensively or have him dominate the ball offensively.

Yes, the Jazz have been doing that. It doesn't mean that is the only possible way he can ever be a member of the Jazz.

It sounds to me like your issue is with Corbin, not Jefferson.

Boozer and Okur did not "develop" in Utah. They both played the same games they always had. They just got bigger roles, more minutes, and plays designed for them.

As others have said. Glad Al is helping them. Nice guy. But we need to move him this offseason.

The Jazz developed them into who they where. Don't try to tell me Boozer was the pick 'n roll master he was the day he came into Utah. The Jazz taught him how to perfect that. Same with Okur. Okur barely even got minutes in Detroit.

And who knows what would have become of him if he had one of the best players in the league at his position working with him every day after practice.

Not saying he would have definitely been better. Just saying it's obviously working for Favors and Kanter. You can see it in their moves and footwork. It'd be pretty foolish to interrupt that development right now.

Before Al Jefferson, there was no post game. If the Jazz didn't have him, that entire bank of knowledge - the property of Al Jefferson - would be lost forever.

Yes, I'm sure Al helps them with footwork. I hope they soak in all they can. I think he will be gone this off-season.

I don't see why we can't have both practice and in game experience.

Just because Jefferson is on the team and working with the young bigs in practice doesn't mean the young bigs can't play.

We don't have to lose possibly the best big man tutor in the league just because Corbin doesn't know how to distribute minutes. If Corbin can't distribute minutes adequately, then it's Corbin who needs to be dumped.

There are 96 minutes to distribute and Al takes 35 of them, that's how you can't have practice and playing time. It's Math dude.
