What does it take for you to call a person a racist? I see it thrown around a lot on Jazzfanz and in my opinion much, much too lightly. Does a person have to embrace certain cultural aspects typically associated with the black community in order to not be a racist? Does a person have to join the mob when the mob is accusing a person of being racist in order to not be a racist? Can a person dislike music, fashion, etc. that is typically associated with the black community without being a racist?

I honestly think it hurts meaningful discussions relating to race and reduces the credibility of people who are quick to cry racism. I'm fairly certiain it makes people in the middle care less when a non-racial debate gets turned into a racial debate by over-sensitive race extremists (on both sides).

So, what's your standard for deciding if a person or an action or thoughts (expressed verbally or written) are racist?

I agree that the term "rascist" is used way to lightly. That is a serious charge in my book. For me it is a case by case basis. I think any person of any racial/ethnic group can be rascist against any other. The notion/idea presented that rascism is mainly a white mans disease is idiocy. Also I have heard the term "reverse rascism" being thrown around to describe a rascist non white person. That is also idiocy.

It’s easy to sit there and say someone's a racist. And I guess that’s what I like about it. It’s easy. Just sitting there, rocking back and forth, calling people racists.

Maybe in order to understand racism we have to look at that word itself. RACISM. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words “ra”and “cism.” What do these words mean? It’s a mystery and that’s why so is racism.

This thread is racist. Mentioning anything Asian about me is racist. This board is mostly white, that too, is racist. Why are happy faces yellow? That's racist. racist racist racist... I joke with "racist" people all the time, but it's kind of hard for me to make fun of white middle class educated tall men. Wait...was that racist? Honestly, I think everyone is butthurt about everything.

My posts often have double meanings or are worded a specific way for a reason Wes.

I only call someone racist when they clearly have an agenda against another race. Most people throw around the word racist now when people are doing racial profiling, which isn't necessarily racist.

I hate everyone equally. Except MillSlopper and BeanClown, they get the extra-special kind.

I'm a peopleist. I definitely think some people are morons, and I lump them together and stereotype them.
Nothing against morons, I just think they are stupid... yes, the lot of them.

Also, does being white and calling other white people racists get you a "I'm not a racist" pass or something?
