vtb league stats: 10.8 pts, 5.8 reb, 2.0 ast, 1.2 stl, 1.3 blk, 23.9 mpg, 64% FGs, team is 15-1
russian league stats: 11.2 pts, 5.7 reb, 1.5 ast, 0.9 stl, 1.3 blk, 19.9 mpg, 58% FGs, team is 13-1
euroleague stats: 14 pts, 7.2 reb, 2.6 ast, 1.5 stl, 1.9 blk, 28.9 mpg, 61% FGs, team is 18-2

just cuz i'm nerdy enough to do it, i converted to per-36 numbers. tell me you wouldn't want this guy on your team with this type of production per 36 minutes:
vtb stats per 36: 16.2-8.4-3.0-1.8-1.9
rus stats per 36: 20.1-10.3-2.7-1.8-2.3
eur stats per 36: 17.5-9.0-3.3-1.9-2.4

signed, the second* biggest non-russian-born AK-lover this board has ever seen.
* = where are you, tater?

that's true if you're looking at just his VTB league stats, which are the stats they refer to in that link. that's largely because CSKA dominates so much in that league that AK rarely plays more than 20 minutes in those games. similar story in the russian league, although his stats are better, and in euroleague they're even more impressive.

Man I think we all forget how he can fill a stat sheet. I think Hayward is becoming that way too.

"If he'd play like he used to." Right. Why don't we bring back Malone, Stockton and Eaton. Hell, even bring back Maravich if we hope they'll all play like they used to. The phrase nearly synonymous with "Kirilenko" the past three years has been "at the right price". What the hell does that mean? What's the right price for last week's Egg McMuffin? After all, it will still fill you up, right? What's the right price for a chimpanzee with an appendicitis? He'd still make a great companion. What's the right price for an opened condom?

The right price is $0.00 and the right length is 0 years. So yes, at the right price.

The most overrated Jazz player considering the fan's love for him, his mediocre NBA career and his financial liability.

The stats are nice but unnecessary. We know exactly who AK is and what sort of NBA numbers he would put up from his last few years here (12/5/3/1/1). Obviously his real value would be defending the big, elite SF's like Durant and Melo. If you want to make a case for him that would have to be it.

AK is a much better fit on this team than the DWill Booze Jazz.

I still think he would rather be a star in Russia than a role player here though. Probably about the same odds as Deron returning.

Well either way CJ and Howard will have to be replaced. AK is as good of an option as the Jazz will get.

They really need to be replaced? Howard isn't playing right now and the argument can be made that we could replace CJ with nobody and be fine. This is like having people come from across town to dump their trash in your garbage can right after garbage man comes because you're afraid of the wind blowing over an empty can.

I go back to Coach Phil's comment on AK early in the season when he basically said AK dogged it after he signed his max deal.

If that is the way the Jazz organization feels, then why in the world would they bring him back?

Because apparently anything is desirable at the right price. Testicular cancer, for instance, could come at the right price and perhaps may be desired because of the increased mass it may add that an individual may boast of. You could see Jack Kevorkian because his services are the right price. You could eat Long John Silvers every day for lunch because it's the right price. So yes, I see the utility in getting many players here 'for the right price': Tracy McGrady, Stephon Marbury, Mark Jackson, John Amaechi, or even CJ Miles. If it's at the right price we can't go wrong.

Here's an idea sign someone who won't get injured every other week.

This is why AK coming back is fool's gold: European basketball games are shorter, less frequent, and less physical. This particular NBA season would have sliced and diced his ***. His bones would be straight powder at this point and jazzfanz would have mounted several attempts on KOC's life.

Truth.

First of all, you can't gauge the true value of AK by his stats. He usually turned up his play during crunch time, especially on defense. And while he wasn't a good 3-point shooter, when it came to making a clutch three he often delivered. Did he not live up to his potential because he dogged it? There may be some truth to this, but the way he was handled by Jerry may have contributed to this -- we had so many arguments about this in the past, but there's no doubt that AK played better in Russia than for the Jazz. It's not much of a leap to say that Jerry was a factor.

AK would be great on this team; if you saw how he played during the Euro tournament this summer with the Russian team, which had many young players, you know he would be great with this team.

I can't believe what I am reading. Do you forget how fragile AK's body is and his constant back strains and ankle problems. Do you forget that he would rather read Russian comic books than practice his jump shots. Do you forget he was the last to practice and the first one to leave. Do you forget his go to post up move of throwing his hands in the air and hoping the refs bail him out. I saw no to AK, not even for a penny.
