Marc Stein: Jazz-Warriors discuss pre-Lottery trade (Source says trade "likely")

I think the Warriors will be around 9th or 10th in the west next year. I don't see them in the playoffs. I see them fighting with Houston and maybe Dallas for the #8 seed, but I don't think they have enough interior play to be a playoff team. Their pick should be around 10 - 13 next year. I don't think the fan base can tolerate another year of tanking. So I think next year's pick protection is moot.

If it turns out the Jazz could have gotten T Jones, P Jones, Barnes or Lillard, we're all going to be very very angry.
 
I think this is realistic for both sides.
GSW- Keep the pick this year.

Utah- Get 30 and 35 and next year the pick is top 5 protected.
 
I want to try our chances. If there is a Basketball god or any sort of god, we get the pick, they tanked so hard and did not play fair, after all.
 
I'm repeating myself here, but I'd pass on the deal. A #8 pick in this draft has more value than anything the Ws can offer. If we don't get it, so what?
 
The idea that we have too many rookies is nonsense. First, Hayward and Favors will be in their third year. Next, just because we have four young guys doesn't mean that they'll all pan out. And finally, if we pass on having "another rookie" or two on the roster, who will take their place? People like Miles?
 
Even if we don't keep the pick, a #30 pick or a #35 pick has value. I'm still reluctant to give up a shot at #8, but if I'm KOC, I'd at least call around and see if the #30 or #35 fits into another deal I want.

......Yeah, I'd still pass on this and just wait for the lottery.
 
I keep trying to put myself into the warriors position and my IQ keeps dropping. I think my offer would be either 30 or 35 and or a swap for 47. I could see them liking o'quinn a lot and figure they could get him at 47. I could also see cash be part of the deal.

If I'm the Jazz, I pass on that offer. I'd rather have a shot at #8.
 
Disagree, catchall. We see little chance at the pic, but great upside at the 30/35 .. not to mention next year's unprotected.
