The strange thing is that there is no mention of any security at all in any of the reports that I have read. To me that would indicate that they were not there. As for the number of tours you are going on pure guess work there correct?. Also that would mean they are veterans and I'd want a good mix of veterans in any defense force.

I may be wrong, but I believe the guys went in after hours to get some things before getting outta dodge.

The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims – as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others.

In other words, the attackers were justified in attacking US embassies because some American miscreant insulted their religion.

Wrong. This was a statement made by the cairo embassy BEFORE the attack in Libya. You and that ******* mitt Romney are dead wrong about this.

No. Saying one side was wrong is not the same as saying the other side was right.

Wow... that changes everything! :rolleyes: It doesn't matter which embassy made the statement, the fact that they were attacked over a lame movie that insulted them and the embassy tries to pacify them by saying that it is somebody else's fault is pathetic.

Not the 'Official' statement at all, don't get sucked into blaming this on Obama (though I suspect the temptation is strong).

I do, however, agree with you that this is a stupid, stupid statement (actually you didn't say this exactly but I think it's what you mean).

I'm not a big fan of allowing those who have no appreciation for the concept of 'freedom of speech' to dictate to us what the limits of it should be. I'm all for hurting the feelings of Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Republicans, Democrats, atheists, men, women, etc.--that's the inevitable consequence of freedom of speech. Nobody has an entitlement to be free from offense or having their feelings hurt. Nobody.

Possibly from diplomatic inertia. Embassy workers don't normally go around insulting the residents of the coutries they work in. There might be other reasons. Either way, a failure to attack one side of a dispute is not the same as supporting that side.

By official I meant the official statement from the embassy, not Obama or the WH.

Meh, just think of this as another gift from the religion of peace. Call me when a week goes by without Muslims blowing some innocents up. Now THAT would be news.
