What's new

Longest Thread Ever

Well, in the past week, we (meaning me and certain people) have been on quite a roller coaster.

Facing surgery of a very substantial sort, and a question about a life-threatening possibility, We've been hanging around doctors and hospitals and clinics almost every day recently. The good news is that the big C is not returning yet. So the surgery will go ahead. When it does, I will have a few weeks of being pretty much in demand, and/or inundated by helpers whom I'll need to talk to sometimes.

Might conceivably cut in on my more important activities. . . . .might conceivably created a pathos requiring me to indulge in even more diversionary thinking. . . .

we'll see.
Best wishes to you and your loved ones. Hope the surgery is succcesful and the recovery speedy. WE'll somehow muddle through if you have to take any time off from Jazzfanz.

I AM the Anti-Corbin!
.
My rotations worked perfectly as the Wildcats (my daughter's soccer team) won in decisive fashion today: 5-2. We dominated the game. And I made a couple of defensive adjustments in the final period to preserve the win (the equivalent of playing a Favors/Kanter combination).
.
Of course it also helps to have a Kobe-type player on the team (not my daughter). This girl loves to control the ball all over the field, but in a good way...she's a great scorer but will also try to pass if covered. As for daughter, she's more like Dikembe Mutombo. She loves to play front defender, challenge the dribbler and then just kill the ball downfield when she gets an opening. She evened blocked a kick with her forehead today! I told her that deserved an ice cream.

Repd for obvious reasons.

The number one thing I look forward to in terms of fatherhood, other than having a great relationship with the wife, and raising children, is coaching. For sure.

I'm coaching a Middle School basketball team (little brother's team) this coming fall. CANNOT. WAIT.

So speaking of my daughter, who I think has great potential as a stand-up comedian...
On Thursday, I took her to her first volleyball practice. I guess I looked kind of official because I was carrying one of those zip-up portfolios, planning to work on the soccer line-ups while she was practicing.
.
Anyway, some one came up to me and asked if I was the coach. Without hesitation, my "precious" daughter said "no, he's not the coach because he sucks at volleyball." I actually used to be pretty good in HS and college, but that was many moons ago. It's always nice when your litttle one expresses so much faith in you!

You'll do awesome.

Oh, I just got it.
You didn't rep me for volunteering, you rep'd me because of the team name. Boy am I dense at 10:00 PM!
My daughter loves anything and everything to do with cats. Last season she came up with the name "Bluecats" and lobbied hard for that team name (and won). Wildcats was a joint effort. We actually had to think of a name BEFORE getting unforms so couldn't use anything with a color in the name.
.
For the sake of my rep, I'm glad we rejected "Bobcats."

Thanks man. I always tease my lil bro, tell him I won't hesitate to tell at him in front of all of his friends.

But yeah. Teaching, helping. Both have always been up my alley. I think about how much of an impact my coaches, my teachers have had on me as a human being, and I feel utterly indebted to express my gratitude by carrying the torch, and helping the next generation.
