Following potential 2013 draftees

Iverson should be there @ pick 46.
If Jazz want Withey or Plumlee use Mavs' 13th pick.
Grab Shroeder with the 14th.
Grab Giannis with pick 21.

Or use pick 46 on Bongo, since 13 pick gets you a big.

I could picture Minnesota offering #9 for Burks. I'm not saying the Jazz do that, but I could see Minny offering it. There isn't a SG that clearly belongs at #9, and KCP would be a bit of a reach there.

Maybe the Jazz offer #14 + #21 for #9.

I don't see much separation between 9, 14, and 21 so I'm inclined to keep 14 and 21 rather than trade two for one.

Maybe if I liked CJ that much more than Shroeder but I don't.

Schroeder + Giannis > McCollum IMO.

True, but there isn't a guarantee that Schroeder is there at #14. Getting #9 all but insures getting one of them, or getting a player like Shabazz. It would be a real-time decision for both teams based on how the first 8 picks shake out. But if McCollum and Schroeder are both gone at #10, then the Jazz are a bit stuck, at least at PG.

I think some Jazz fanz are overvaluing point guards because we want one. Bigs rise. Maybe not CJ but I think it's likely Schroeder will be there at 14.
Jazz grab the 13th pick from Mavs and we only have to worry about 12 teams passing on both CJ and Schroeder. Maybe your worries will come to fruition and both are gone before the Jazz pick but I don't think so.

Well, if Schroeder and McCollum are both gone when the Jazz pick, that means that another decent player will slip to us, but if I'm the Jazz, I'd put a few deals on the table as a contingency plan.

i could do Chad Ford's and Todd McShay's jobs better if they were drunk.
fixed.
If the Jazz drafted two point guards who would you want?
CJ and who ever

Yeah someone good will be there at 14. And I agree, I hope our new GM is actively working on deals and not sitting on his hands.

Nah, I'm not holding my breaths. KOC and Lindsey have proven to be "too proud to make a deal". They're definitely at the wrong end of the spectrum with Morey at the other. More than just about anything they'd rather not be known for "getting shafted".

I'd say if Mavs are asking too much for the #13 pick, we'd just shut up and pick BPA at #14 and #21 respectively.

TBH witchu I'd have no problem getting Adams at #14 and a potential stud 2-way wing who can shoot 3's at #21 like Bullock, Crabbe, Rice, Saric, Kerasev.

Then tank hard and get a PG next year.

Adams and Bullock sound fine to me. I like the tanking next year too.

I think this Mavs trading #13 rumor is just a rumor though... the draft is the best place to get quality players on the cheap. For the 13th pick it'll cost the Mavs $1.6mil to get a potential serviceable big man in Gobert/Adams. You're not gonna be able to do better than that for the same amount of talent in the FA market.

Mavs are probably just gauging interests... unless they get a bombshell of an offer, they'd probably keeping the pick...

It's not that simple. They'd be getting >$10 million in cap space, and if they think they can get both Dwight and CP3, then that likely is the difference in getting both or getting neither. Getting some project big from France or some project big from New Zealand hardly looks good in comparison.

Good post. They need to make a decision as to if and how they are going to re-tool around Dirk. Young rookies may not help their cause much.
