Trey Burke vs. Patrick Beverley Summer League Game 2

I am sure almost everyone here saw the Summer League Game today. Burke was decent, improved a lot from the first game, but he is still pretty nervous as you can tell.

In six games vs. OKC in the playoffs this year (5 of which he started in) Beverley averaged 11.8 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1 TOPG and shot 43% from the field in 33 MPG.

To compare both players in the Summer League game today let's see what their stats were today:

Trey Burke, 11 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 turnovers, on 33% from the field.

Patrick Beverley 11 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 turnovers on 50% from the field.

Obviously Beverley has a season under his belt and started in five playoff games last season. If he performed so well in the playoffs and was sub-par today, why does everybody think Burke is going to suck just because of a few unimpressive games?

Trey Burke will be fine and will win Rookie of the Year, book it.

I've stayed out of any Trey bashing or anti-Trey bashing because I don't have the slightest clue how to put a summer league game where there was very limited training time and the team is a thrown together mish mash of top college talent and VERY marginal NBA talent with some solid NBA players with a couple seasons under their belt mixed in into context. I mean, how can you evaluate a player in a situation that is so entirely unlike an NBA game in every possible way? I can't.

^ This. Where do you get that everybody thinks Burke is going to suck? I think it's just the opposite.

Fairly mediocre is being kind imo

I have to be honest. I was not impressed by Burke. Its not the 1-12 so much as it is he looks so slow and not athletic. I sure hope he can show more than that.

Burk sucks

Gobert is much to weak, my goodness dude has to eat something.

Is Burke jet lagged? Dude has no energy.

Well, was more impressed with Stockton than Burke. Not a good sign. He does look a little slow of foot out there. Not any explosion from him.

Gobert looks ready to earn some backup minutes all ready. A good sign.

Burks looked great to me, as he did last summer league.

Evans just isn't assertive, but, having a decent game.

I think his lack of size, speed, and athleticism keeps him from attacking the basket.

I just want to see him set up his teammates better

.

fishonjazz again:
"He just looks small out there.... not that you can't be good if you are small but usually you have to have some other special ability to make up for the lack of size.
Cp3 has amazing quickness (especially stopping and starting)
Nate robinson has amazing leaping ability (and great quickness)
Jameer nelson is super strong.

Does burk possess something like that to help overcome that lack of size."

I found those just skimming through a few pages, who knows what I'd find if I actually digged for them.

The most common one is we should have took Olynyk, I knew he would be this good which is a bunch of bs.

The truth is... their are only a handful of us who question him some. The majority of Jazzfanz think he is the greatest thing.

Its just kind of weird that when the support group talks of the doubters , its always billed as "everyone".

Remember, JazzFanz voted Trey Burke as the best player coming out of this draft.

I saw him make some very good passes today, That the player he threw it to just plain dropped.
.
As other have said I'll not judge him based on SL games.
