What are we supposed to do? Sit here and moan about not having Wes?
He's gone. There is nothing we or the jazz can do about it.
Since none of the fans stepped up and offered to pay Wes's salary (and the luxury tax that went with it), how do you get off saying that the millers should have paid it?

And since none of you are being offered a job on any NBA team as a GM, I really don't know how you think you would be a better GM over the period of time that KOC has been Jazz GM.
And so many of you seem to think that KOC can just snap his fingers and get whatever player he wants at whatever price.
"COME ON, KOC! Get us a defensive center!" Heard that one forever.
"We need a sg that can shoot!" Oh sure, just go get one. Hey Kobe, come play for the jazz and take half salary while yer at it!

You want to see what happens when you put a fan in charge of an NBA team? Look at Mark Cuban. Sure, Dallas is tearing it up right now, but how many championships do they have? They trade players all the time. Always tinkering and bringing in new guys, new coaches. What has it gotten them? First round exits. If they didn't have Dirk, they probably wouldn't even be making the playoffs. And Cuban bought the team after Dirk was already there.

Here is another thing I don't get. Every time KOC matched an offer sheet, we actually got players for below the value of their contributions to the team. KOC bitched like a teenage girl when Portland signed Millsap to an offer sheet. Now, not only didn't Paul make Booz expendable, but he is putting up 18 and 8 on 55% FG for 6.2 mil this year - less than half of Jefferson's salary, who is producing similar numbers. Basically, we got a steal here, thanks to Portland. So, instead of crying like a baby, KOC should have thanked Portland for this offer. CJ, while never was great, is certainly well worth his contract either - Jazz matched it after much deliberation. Mo Williams became all star after KOC failed to match 2 mil. Every time we chose to keep a guy we like, we won. When we didn't, we lost. And we are only talking about AVERAGE salary here: mid-level. We are not talking about some MAX contracts or anything like that. It's not so long ago that KOC had enough balls to do to Cleveland with Booz what Portland did to him now with Wes. He took advantage of others and bettered the team. Now he is taken advantage of, and being stubborn *** that he is, he goes with old junk for about the same price he could have kept promising young talent for. How times have changed.

There is nothing we as fans can do about anything. That's not why we are posting. If KOC trades DWill for a bag of chips, should we also just say, oh well he is gone now, no biggie, nothing we can do? The point is: KOC screwed up big time because of his stubbornness and stupidity, and there is nothing wrong in discussing this.

Because I am almost sure Greg would pay it, if given right advise from his GM. He paid Millsap's salary when we went over tax. He paid CJ's salary. He paid AJ's salary. Darn, he paid Raja's salary and Elsen's salary when he was over tax. You think he would have bulked at extra 1.5 mil in luxury tax for Wes as compared to Raja and Elsen, had he been told by KOC that the guy is worth it? No freaking way. Greg stepped up to the plate every time, and I just don't see how these 1.5 mil in tax would break his back. Greg didn't step up, because KOC did not ask him to step up. This one is on KOC. Greg stepped up every time before, and he said he would for anyone who is worth it. He just though Wes is not, and that's KOC's job to decide whether he is or isn't. And KOC failed to do his job. Getting old men for nearly the same price this year as Wes was ludicrous decision on KOC's part.

KOC was a good GM. I praised him a lot. But the things he used to do: getting good young promising players away from other teams, like he has done with young Okur and Booz, are now done to him. He got too conservative. I mean getting Booz 70 mil was a ballsy move. Moving a few spots in the draft for 3 picks to get 3d pick was a ballsy move. But he got conservative and stubborn. Now he would rather pay aging Okur, whose stock was at all time high, and he didn't have to pay him, than take a minor gamble to keep a rising talent, like Wes. He would not let AK buy himself out when he offered. And even now, he actually went out and got Raja and Elson for nearly the same amount as Wes, because he was too stubborn to pay Wes AVERAGE salary. Just average. But now, he wanted to get a steal, like Cavs with Booz, and as a result got screwed instead of screwing Portland.

Well, the irony is that KOC finally did it. He got us a guy who is now producing 20 ppg as a starter on good shooting with outstanding defense. But he managed to screw it up as well.

Well, Dallas went to Finals during his stay there, which was the best accomplishment Utah ever had. He also does not have Sloan. Besides, we don't need fans to be in charge. KOC used to do just fine. But now KOC is getting soft and stubborn. Losing Wes was a huge blunder old KOC would have never allowed.

If you don't realize Wes is a clutch player, then you didn't watch many Jazz games last year. Some people on here were saying I was a nutcase when I complained about the Jazz not matching. Now look at what people are saying? Madness is often a matter of perspective.

What is your prejudice against Wes and why do you refuse to acknowledge that he's an emerging borderline All-Star?

I'm so sick of hearing how terrible of a shooter Wesley from you shooting 45% from the floor. That's not that bad for a SG just like 1.8 TO's per game isn't bad for someone who plays 30 minutes a game.
