What's new

Why are the Spurs on pace to win 72 games, yet the Jazz are floundering again?

I see your point, Viny, and to an extent I share the sentiment. But considering the fact that the job is Sloan's until he decides to retire (or, God forbid, keels over on the bench during a game), so it makes more sense to surround him with the type of players who could get him the ring.

Based on what?

....based on the simple fact that DUncan has been the most dominate player in the league....and we would have surrounded him with as much help or more than the Spurs did! The Jazz have NEVER had a scoring center who could also play excellent defense. Heck, you put DUncan on the Jazz right now...and we are odds on favorite to win the whole thing!

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Jazz get a lot better next year rather than this year. Big changes can take a while to really mesh.

....if the Jazz would have gotten Duncan in the draft 10 years ago like the Spurs did....the shoe would be on the other foot and we'd have 3 or 4 championships under our belt!

Sloan should have won 3 or three with Stock-Malone. Then people would regard Malone the same way they do TD right now. Its all about the rings baby.

The Spurs have 3 great players to build a system around. The Jazz really just have 1 unless Jefferson is having a really solid night. If the Jazz could get another player as dynamic and consistent as Ginobli, we'd be in business.

It is funny to see haters like zman bitching about Sloan in the middle of a good season. The Jazz have actually been overachieving these last 2 seasons. And this year, they have just one star and a bunch of other guys who look like just very good role players on most nights and they keep winning games.

Yeah yeah, we get it. Sloan lost to MJ twice. So what are we going to do about it?Nothing. Get the **** over it. For the kind of players we have had these past few years I cant imagine a better coach for this team. Maybe Popovich. Thats about it. It is'nt so bad to have the second or third best coach in the league coaching your team, you know. Unless otherwise you are a hater of course. There just is'nt a long list of coaches who would have come to the Jazz and won it all with the players we had.

But then keep bitching. It provided for some entertainment.

The Spurs are healthier, more talented, better skilled and deeper than the Jazz. Part of me still can't see San Antonio keeping this up, whether it's Ginobili getting banged up again or teams altering their strategy now that they know Duncan is about 75% washed-up and focusing more on stopping the Spurs perimeter players. 29-4 but I'd be suprised if they win more than 62 games.

Also 2 championships were there for the Jazz's taking, but Utah lost to the best player who ever played and to one of the greatest dynasties in the modern NBA. If the "Stockton and Malone" Jazz peak 6 years later I think they definitely win multiple championships.

....the Spurs didn't have to go up against Jordan and his boys in their prime, like Stockton and Malone had to do!

and had those Spurs teams gone against the Bulls teams the Jazz faced they'd probably have zero rings too.
