lol. It's great to have Exum. The guy was said to be coming into camp out-of-shape, he's played less than 10 NBA regular season games and... he's 19; and now he's outplaying our starting PG. And thank goodness we have Burks and Hayward starting so Snyder can't merely move Exum to the 2 - Exum needs to be our starting PG. I mean, compare their FG% (Burke & Exum).

And when was this? Because I was hearing Exum-Kobe comparisons almost a year ago. If you've got a link to a Chad Ford article with this comparison go ahead and post it....
 
Here's a question: was Burke's stunted by the Jazz putting so much responsibility on him at a young age, and if so, why would we want to do the same to Exum? Obviously different people react in different ways to similar situation, but if we can let Exum grow without putting too much on him, that would be the best, IMO.

Look, whether Exum is starting or not, we aren't gonna be a good team. It makes a lot more sense to bring him along slowly against backups than to force him to play heavy minutes against very good players when he isn't ready. I don't get why some of you are so impatient, whether it's just that you're stupid or being incredibly reactionary, but it makes more sense to have Exum come off the bench for now.

Yeah we all noticed this way back in the Summer League. The consensus opinion was he needs a year playing behind Burke to iron out those issues.
 
Burke was our best player in the preseason. Quin Snyder even said so, in verbatim.

He will turn it around. Remember when Hayward would start ice-cold in his 2nd, 3rd, and I think even 4th seasons?

which is telling, as it indicates that we should take your Burke criticisms with a grain of salt.

Burke was decent last year, many have mentioned this before - I don't think his game suits Quin's system all that much. Burke needs the ball in his hand to dribble and probe and make the right play, shooting it off the dribble. Quin's system requires that he give the ball up early and often, shoot when open, and I think Burke is still adjusting to that.

The first one I can find a link of is right before the draft, in one of Bill Simmons' podcasts:

There were Michael Jordan comparisons at the Nike Hoop Summit, I don't remember who made them - was either Fran Fraschilla or Ford.

My point was - Ford is not one of the guys who was really timid on Exum, he was one of the people who hyped him the most.

I trust nothing Ford says. I found this older article comparing Exum to Kobe from back in February. It's a decent article, actually:

Fraschilla was probably the originator of the Exum-Kobe comparisons. I know he also compared Exum to Jordan prior to the Kobe comparisons.

HOPEFULLY we have coaching in place to develop Exum. That's the key. I look at a guy like Kanter who is physically gifted and feel like he's been wasted to a large degree. I know they're different positions and there are completely different teachings but the Jazz must work on Exum's development.

Trey has been shooting when open, just hasn't been making them. I wouldn't say he's forcing shots at all.
