People gotta remember that trade return is more than just a representation of a players value. Its a combination of that plus circumstances plus GM smarts/stupidity. In terms of circumstances the market situation (supply and demand of that players skillset) is what matters the most.

There has been a lot of reporting that this offseason is gonna be crazy, and since there was zero smoke around Bane (afaik) it seems Magic wanted to jump the queue on the markets and do this deal without a bidding war.
