WTF happened to rap?

"Oh Rap just isn't complex enough for me to consider it musically valid"

Honestly, that's just about the worst kind of music snobbery, and this is coming from someone who listens to and enjoys prog rock.
I can appreciate simplicity of riffs and melodies in variety of music types, but rap is just completely on another level. Sorry, just not my cup of tea, never enjoyed it, never spend a dime on rap and never will ( be it a concert, album or other merchandise)

Music appreciation is one of the most subjective things on the planet. You can objective about individual talent and musical ability, but whether those objectively talented people produce "good" or "bad" music is every bit as subjective an anything else known to man.

As someone else who has never spent a dime an rap and probably never will, I will add that you are still displaying the worst kind of musical snobbery and judgmentalism.

lol why? What is this nonsense that I need to tolerate and accept everything? I hate rap, it sounds awful, it is primitive and there is nothing to it except how to belt out as many words as possible out. As a former musician myself I want to see and enjoy musical skill, melodies, creative solos, harmonies, teamwork, vocals, etc. Rap has nothing to offer. It sucks beyond sucking. Calling spade a spade is not judgemental or snobbering.

Why are you posting in a rap thread then?

You're just a little bitch with terrible opinions.

Recognition of talent and skill is neither tolerance nor acceptance of the music produced by the skill. However, I'm curious why you think intolerance is a virtuous position.

I hate rap, ...

No one has asked you to like rap. You can hate rap without denying the musical talents of its creators.

Oh excuse me I did not know it is just for rap lovers to come and stroke each other. Bye.
It's clearly a thread for people who have some level of understanding or appreciation for the genre or it's roots. You're just being a dick in this thread spouting off ignorant opinions that show your lack of musical range.

Yeah see this right here is where you are being unreasonable and snobby. You don't have to like it, but rap is about far more than that.

There is no musical talent. Sorry, but it is true. You can call it talent to talk fast or whatever but strictly musically there is nothing.

For a musician you have an awfully dim view of what makes something music. Kind of makes me wonder...

So there is no talent in the rhythmic use of vocals? And it may come as a surprise to you, but very few simply just "talk fast". There is also pitch and cadence manipulation.

You either know very little about music, have only heard a select few rap songs, or are incredibly racist.
