Awesome news! DWade has been one of my favorite players outside the Jazz. I hope this brings us closer to Mitchell becoming Wade with a reliable 3 pt shot.

It almost sounds like an Onion headline.

I never would have guessed this would happen. It’ll be interesting to see if we can notice any reputation-bump as a result.
Well it didn't kick in for today's game. Officiating was garbage.

They're not irregular plurals. They're simply uncountable nouns and don't form plurals under normal circumstances.
And under normal circumstances you’d be right (like, maybe gossiping around a knitting circle). But team identities create something other than normal circumstances, for both organizations and fans.

I’ve heard people here in Utah say “he’s a Jazz” throughout my life. If there’s more than one player who is a “Jazz”, then it becomes a plural under the standard creaed by all the other mascot plurals.

I’m sure the common word usage is similar in Oklahoma and Florida.

That type of usage makes for a set of irregular plurals within the context being discussed on this forum.

I’m completely game if you’d like to flesh out your argument to the contrary, though. But you’re going to have to do better than relying on “normal circumstances”, which probably don’t even exist anyway when you realize that the definitions/qualifications of words for dictionaries like the OED and Webster have been relying on descriptive understandings just as much as prescriptive for the last fifty years.

I don’t think there’s a “queen’s english” type of authority that can even be pointed to with regards to the NBA. I mean, Mitchell handled Shaq with an “Aight”. So it’s just as likely to be Patrick Beverley as Adam Silver.

One thing I was thinking about with this situation is that Wade brings championship stature and experience to the team. He wants to be involved and will most definitely be mentoring the team about mindset and what it takes to get it done in the playoffs.

Could be the sneakiest signing of the year as far as helping keep the Jazz locked in and ready to go come playoff time.

You can still be a conservative and help with diversity.
For sure, that’s what I’m saying. I believe strongly in diversity and helping people feel part of the community, I was just saying that although I’m not liberal, Dwayne Wade brings a greater ability for conversations, perspective, and compromise than many other people who’s political views differ than those of mine and the majority of Utahns. Many people who are politically active seem to take a hardline approach that makes others more defensive IMO, where as Dwayne keeps level headed and is very respectful. Ryan Smith and Dwayne Wade are two guys that can help Utah open up a little more to some more perspectives while helping Utahns still feel like they aren’t giving up there own ideologies or whatever you want to call it. I’m pumped man, I’m 100% about Utah being a red state but there is medium red with compromise and such, then there’s that political extremism crap I think we all wanna avoid. Anyways, just happy to have guys that seem ready, competent, and committed to help develop Utah.
