Generational defender...and it ain't Bem Simmons..

Ben Simmons is a good defender. After watching clips he is really good at defense...but he still he.does not occupy space as well.as Rudy. I have not seen Ben freeze two players at once like Rudy does. What Ben does well is move around the perimeter. But that is no way as valuable on defense to what Rudy does.

Context matters,, if a 3 point shooter misses 40% of his shot then he considered a excellent 3 player shooter. I don't care if occasionally Rudy gets scored on. He manages the percentage well, understands the context (intelligence does translate well on some aspects of defense). He bends space on the floor, Simmons does not.

If Gobert were on a marquee team he would be all over the headlines and already christened the best interior defender since olajuwon, and be in the conversation for the best single defensive player of all-time. Since he is stuck on the jazz he's just another guy most fans see 2-3 times per year and rant about how overrated he is until he dismantles their entire team then they are shocked how good he actually is.

But dat Ben Simmons doe.

Simmonds isn’t even the best defensive player on his team, let alone the NBA.

Simmons is all talk because he’s deeply insecure about his own talent. He can’t shoot and knows it so he has to boast about other skills to make up for it. He should show us his skills instead of tell us.

Embiid also said he should win DPOY lmao

Early in the year the PHI PR machine was pushing for Embid to be DPOY but once it became clear he was playing his way into MVP it shifted to them pushing Simmons for DPOY. I wish someone in the national media would troll Embid and PHI the way Embid trolls and ask him how come PHI doesn't fill like he's worthy of being DPOY anymore and why is only Simmons getting PR for it. The correct answer for Embid is that he is that he is worthy and playing like DPOY but he is playing for MVP, to which the media could then present that to Simmons and play on his insecurities.

That will never happen but would be entertaining for non PHI fans if it did.

But like I said in the last thread where Simmons' popped off, they shouldn't confuse being more versatile with being more dominate, which Rudy clearly is more dominate.

It was talked about on here more a few years ago but the chip on Rudy's shoulder must be massive. He gets little media/fan respect and I'm sure his intensity is going to be epic come playoff time as he wants to prove to everyone how elite he truly is.
