Trade for Ben Simmons

Replacing Rudy for Simmons one way or another could be interesting on paper. Ben is really good with shooters around him. He’d have 4 snipers around him at all times.
 
It's all about putting players in the right positions. You can't have Rudy/Ben work together in a playoff setting as LoPo alluded to but having Ben on this team as a point center would be fantastic.

Maybe Conley wants to go there and we keep pick 30 in the deal by adding Conley.

Simmons fits our timeline and he is a great defender. I know he isn’t a favorite around here but it’s definitely worth exploring.

Don't see how this makes us better. We can't sacrifice so much of our offense to improve our defense. Plus it would be hard having Simmons and Attach filesGobert on the floor together. Not to mention the fact that he's one of the biggest assholes in the league and would probably wreck our chemistry.
 
Resign Conley then trade
Jazz receive: Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle
76ers receive: Jordan Clarkson, Derrick Favors, Royce O'Neale, Joe Ingles

With Simmons would no longer have that scoring and outside shooting.
Simmons, Donovan, Royce, somebody and gobert would not be pretty.

Jazz won't put a non-shooter on the floor, unless he's an elite rim protector and rim finisher.
Ben Simmons should really be the ball-in-hand version of Blake Griffin, but he's just so allergic to shooting and scoring.

He is a huge liability in the playoffs. Even worse than Rudy.

People just got done complaining about how you can't win with Rudy in the playoffs and now want a guy even more limited and unplayable in the playoffs.

Hell no. At least teams have to scheme to make Rudy less effective by playing small ball. Rudy is still effective against teams that don't go small.
Simmons is a liability against literally every team and every style. Sag off him and pack the paint. Foul him often as possible.
He has great defense but as I said in another post, there is no such thing as a shutdown peremiter defender in today's nba. The rules and the officiating simply favor the offense too much and offensive players are just too good/skilled.

A defense only perimeter player just isn't that valuable anymore imo.

Don is a much better scorer than anything they have.
Royce isn't a shooter, but he can shoot as well as Thybulle or some of the other guys they have.

You throw a shooting center with that bunch, that could work until the last few minutes when Ben has to sit.

I thought the trade was bojan, Clarkson and a pick though.
So bojan being a better true shooter wouldn't apply. He wouldn't be on the jazz anymore.

You would be looking at Simmons, Donovan, Royce, somebody, gobert from what I can gather.

So a great defender with snipers around him yet not as good a defender as the guy we give up..... Plus perimeter defender isn't as valuable as paint defender.

If we could get Simmons while keeping Bogdanovic then that would be best case scenario.

Gobert/Simmons would be a great defensive duo. Mitchell and Bogey are enough offense to counteract.

It would have to be something like Clarkson/Royce/Ingles/30 or Favors in that deal instead of Ingles works too.

I don’t know if Philadelphia does it but I would.
 
Our biggest need is another great defender in the mix while keeping offense.

We know that all defense like Rubio/Crowder didn’t work and all offense Conley/Bogdanovic didn’t work.

I think a combo of both might such as Crowder/Bogdanovic but we get a super Crowder in Simmons. I think we could work on his offense. Players thrive and have their best seasons here.

I like that better but I just hate to think of Simmons in an important playoff game not being able to be on the court late or being completely ineffective and scared to touch the ball.

Then you could have the same thing happening to Rudy at the same time with small ball and there might 2 of our main guys that just kill us in the playoffs.

Simmons isn't a super crowder though. Crowder shoots hella threes stretches the floor and is a tough guy.
Simmons literally never ever shoots threes and is a fake tough guy.
