Paschall traded to the Jazz

Paschall still has some value and upside but his only functional role in NBA is probably small ball 5. He sucked whenever he had to play 4 with a center/Draymond.

He may work alongside Gay since he shoots, though but the way he usually gets his offense is not going to cut it with our perimeter creators.

If the Jazz are looking to counter small ball, it could work as it moves Rudy Gay to better perimeter players instead of the tallest one(Jazz could still have liabilities on guard spots though). If they are looking to create their own small ball line-up, Paschall may not be able to help unless he improves vastly as a shooter.

Have I been mentioned yet? This is a good chess move by Zanick and Smith. Anyone negative about it, this is very appeasing to Donovan.

That's why I said "what are we doing"? It was more "what are we up to" more than questioning the deal.

I agree with you 100%. I think Paschall projects to be a top notch small ball 5. Could be one of the best in the league. I love the addition.

I agree, except he is way better than Brantley.
He is good in transition and moving downhill. Not a bad defender at 4/5 but probably better than what the Jazz have had at the 4. He will likely do well in limited pnr situations in the Jazz offense as he is good at getting to the basket. He is not good posting up, but he may develop that too.

If he can develop a good 3pt shot he would do very well in the league. A 29% 3pt shooter is not what we need, but a 2nd rd pick is worth the gamble to see if he is a better fit in the Jazz system. Hopefully the Brantley experiment can now end.

A top 42 protected 2nd in 2026 no less. Of course by then we will be complaining and asking why we don’t have a 2nd that year.
 
Paschall stinks, and a bucket getter who doesn’t defend is not the type of player we need, but he is Don’s best friend and we traded basically nothing for him. There’s no loss here, except for Brantley’s QO anyway.

As I felt with the Rudy Gay signing…I hope this pushes us to make more moves. Surely the FO doesn’t think we need to stack the roster with countless plus usage bucket getters.

I really like Paschall.

I was skeptical on the Whiteside addition.

I'm more skeptical on the Whiteside addition now that we got the Paschall guy I like.

Is that not a fair assessment or do we have to throw shade at everybody for anything?
