Trade deadline discussion

Another article that mentions the Jazz as a possible destination for Jerami Grant. This hypothetical trade would have us sending Ingles, Royce, Jared Butler and future draft compensation. I like the idea of Grant on the Jazz, especially defensively next to Rudy. That is a lot to give up though, I'm not sure I could pull the trigger on a deal like that.

Not for that much, no way.

I'm out on Jerami Grant. We couldn't get him anyways, but he's been overrated both as a role player and as a first option in Detroit. He looks the part as a defender, but isn't actually that good of a defender.

I don’t like the idea of trading SLO Mo Joe, even if he sucks in the playoffs. He’s just such a fun character to have on the team. It’s like having Bob Uecker on your team. Why would you trade a Bob Uecker?

I don't really understand where this narrative that he sucks in the playoffs came from but I see it a lot on social media. Sure he's had a couple of bad playoff series' but he's also had some really good ones. Just last year in the Clippers series he was really good. I also remember him shutting JJ Redick down in the playoffs a few years ago when we knocked off the Clippers and doing a great job defensively on Paul George while also playing great offensively to help us beat the Thunder out.

So he’s great in the playoffs, AND he’s Bob Uecker. Don’t trade!

If everything else fails, could Xavier Tillman still be one target worth consideration ? Shot percentage still not good, and ft% not better, but i'd trust him more on defensive duties of small ball 5 or mere extra athletic wing defender with unreliable shot than Paschall. Not as if Jazz looks like able to aim much higher than that

I agree. Joe stays. No reason to trade him. He is a big part of the identity of this team.

Potentially a bombshell of a rumor:

Jazz are not only looking to add a defensive minded wing, they are looking to add one that can bolster the starting lineup and are willing to give up a 1st round pick.

This is the type of move I'd like to see Utah make. If you want significant change, it's got to be at the level of player that will significantly change your rotation and close games. The playoffs are about your best versus their best. Not sure if they can get it done, options are more limited now than they were in the summer.

Hmm, DFS is the only guy I can think of that'd fit into the TPE and could fit that description.

Otherwise it'd have to be a deal involving one of our rotation guys I'd think, and at that point it could be almost anyone.

The article isn't showing for me. Bleacher Report?

If rumors pick up on social media, expect our good play to slow down and maybe start losing some bunnies.

Yep. Nothin'.

@Jason any idea why we can't see embedded media? I have seen several people mention this. I can only see it if I reply to it, and even then sometimes it doesn't work.

Not to discredit that article because I think the guy is credible... but I just think this is one of those articles where the headliners are the ones that really being discussed and the other stuff is just random strays that may not be that serious.

And I think those random strays come from common sense things people would say. For instance, a team may say something really general like they’re open to using a pick or whatever to improve _____, but in reality it’s a meaningless statement. Kinda like “hey, I’d retire tomorrow if I won the lottery,” and then state that so-and-so has been mulling retirement.

But the side note on this is that I think we’re kinda fragile and we rely a lot on chemistry for the sec machine to work and you put a few drops of uncertainty in the mixture and we could quickly get some odd pudding. May not be totally inedible, but there’s going to be a “WTF is this aftertaste?” that gives us pause with each bite.
