At this point, beyond me being a troll on this issue, with how much noise is popping up right now, it sure seems like Donovan’s camp may legitimately be leaking things at the moment. There should not be this much nonsense in the first half of the first year of his max contract unless it’s wanted to be out there.

Also, this is Rudy’s latest comment and Donovan’s latest Twitter like. I tried to tell you all this story is closer to an end than a beginning:

To be clear, Rudy is 100% right, and Donovan is 100% passive aggressive, a PR machine, and a guy who doesn’t hold teammates accountable. At some point someone has to say it out loud that guys have not held themselves accountable. Can you trade Donovan for a haul big enough to continue competing with Rudy? Or just call it good. I honestly don’t know.

The Rudy Donovan beef is more worrisome than the other stuff.

The source of this rumor is some obscure Heat "insider" that even other Heat fans make fun of for constantly being wrong.

I’m shocked a Heat insider would think Miami would be at the top of the list… very weird.

If it came down to it I would keep Gobert over Donovan, no question. He is far more impactful on the games. What could we get for Donovan?

And the Rudy/Donovan dynamic? It’s all patched up too right? Donovan is also stirring the pot liking that tweet. No wonder they can’t succeed, all the leadership on this team is ***.
Both guys are in the wrong there... and no I never bought in that they were 100% cool. I can see it in the way the guys talk to each other.

It feels like DM has plateaued. He is worse this year than last, in nearly every metric, especially defense where his stats are flat or down on most advanced metrics for defense. Is it time to sell high and see what we can get? Is there any way to move him at the deadline and get even close to equal value back?

I think it might be worth it to explore a multi-player deal where we get 2 or 3 guys back for DM and replace his production by committee, as long as those guys were capable 3&D type dudes.

I wonder how much of it is getting in each other's spotlight. Or rather, how much of it is Gobert getting in Mitchell's spotlight and Gobert being frustrated Mitchell seems more intent on stats and hero-ball than winning?

Booker swapped into Middleton in the finals because it was their best defensive figuration to let Bridges roam. He regularly takes on the toughest defensive assignment in a similar fashion.

To be clear, I don’t think Book is a great defender. But he believes he is and he prides himself on it. Mitchell does need to adopt that mentality. I remember when he was a rookie and took the challenge of guarding PG and then Westbrook when he was physically overwhelming Rubio.

He’s way more capable than Booker on defense, just doesn’t have the same approach to the game.

To an extent yes they both are, but I think we all feel the way Rudy does at this point, and apparently no one can say these things behind the scenes and make a difference so say what’s obvious out loud.

There’s clearly something about Rudy that rubs players the wrong way. I’m sure some of it is warranted and some isn’t. But when it comes to this point right here about the defense, he’s absolutely right.

Also, this comment by Rudy was pretty general and could be pointed at basically anyones perimeter defense, let’s see how many other guys passive aggressively like the tweet outside the diva who took it personal, probably because it’s true?

People go crazy over liked tweets for no reason. Mitchell could have liked this tweet because they were laughing about it. That’s what happens 99% players like tweets. To mess with and laugh at obsessive fans.

But if you’re going to call Mitchell passive aggressive, call a spade a spade and say it to Rudy too. This is very passive aggressive towards his teammates, but that is the culture of this team. Before covid this team was falling apart. Everyone was openly saying the team wasn’t focused on the right things. Mitchell, Gobert, Bogey….all said the same thing. There have been times where the team appears to be more friendly towards each other….but results on the court have not changed.

All the reports I saw was that this team was very cohesive. Whiteside said as much coming in from the outside. Like brothers. Obviously there is beef between Mitchell and Gobert and it will spill over into the others as well depending on who is friends with who, but I don't think it means the team is falling apart.
