It's something I've thought about the past few games. If you had House in for Royce and Juancho in for Bojan. Obviously that's a big drop offensively but Bojan's going to be touching the ball even less so it becomes more of a moot point. We will get destroyed on the offensive glass if Rudy goes out to contest and Juancho seems like the only guy the entire season seeking out rebounds in those and other situations where people typically ball watch. I think he moves around enough to make stuff happen and if Quin is insisting on allowing Donovan to treat this like 2k career mode or whatever, then you may as well go with the guy who will pick you up a few extra possessions.

Agreed. This would make sense. But it flies in the face of the System. Therefore it cannot happen. At the end of the game, the best shot we can ever get is any shot taken by Mitchell, anywhere, under any amount of pressure. And the starters must finish the game. We cannot make substitutions just because one or two guys are better at defense or rebounding. That flies in the face of the System. Therefore it cannot happen.

Remember, over 82 games the System always guarantees a winning season. We just have to make sure we hold out for that 82 game playoff series and we are golden.

I've wanted Rudy Gay in the closing lineup since we signed him, almost entirely based on having more rebounding in the closing lineup. I think I have some deep trauma around our defensive rebounding issues in the clutch that make me go a little overboard with this opinion. Juancho is almost as good of a rebounder as Rudy Gay, and obviously bringing a lot more energy right now. Yeah, I'd be ok with that, but don't think there is anyway it happens.

LogGrad and SoberasHotRod nailed it IMO, no way it happens with this coach. Call it the System or white knuckle fear or whatever, he’s just way too intransigent. Sometimes I think that Snyder is more motivated by superstition than reason!

I don't think its the right move. We can't feed the hero ball system at the end and adding one more non-creator... Quin needs to do what he did in the memphis game and have Bogey post if Donovan isn't going to run offense.

I don't think the difference on defense from Bogey to Juan will make up for the offensive difference. I'm not sure Juan is confident enough to shoot the jumpers in crunch time... if we were at game 50 and experimenting maybe... but playoffs we will not get wild... Quin would get skewered if he played Juan in crunch time and he missed a key three.

I think the guy to remove from the closing lineup is royce rather than bogey.
You have to have bogey in there

It's be different if Juancho was some proven rebounder defender, but he isn't. He's just marginally better than the guys we have. Bogey just makes too many big shots not to have him out there

By the sounds of it, neither Bogey nor Juancho will be shooting threes.
I think at least teams will respect Bogey as a shooter... so Donovan will get less defensive attention.

I just don't see it. If we play the same way we have in crunch time it won't matter anyway... we won't win with hero ball shots.

I don’t think it will take long for Igor to realize that Quin is going to let Donovan attempt to shoot his way out of a bad season and the spread floor theory will be entirely hypothetical.

The ancillary benefits of Juan over Bogey aren't worth it regardless.

Also, what if Quin is playing mind games with Igor and its a long-con... just you wait.

It's either going to be Bogey over Juancho because superior offense or either House or Royce because superior defense.
