Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Direct stats show this not to be true.

I'll repost what I responded to you earlier:

...in direct matchups Steph's direct opponent shoots 1.4% less than their average while Don's opponent shoots 4% better than their average. And the Jazz try to hide Mitchell too. This was the regular season. Against Dallas opponents shot 9.6% better. Both regular season and playoffs were the worst for any Jazz player getting regular minutes.

What's worse, in the playoffs two years ago, players were -9.9 below their average when Don guarded them, which shows he can play D when he wants to. A good coach would be all over this ****, instead of stroking egos...
That's the real thing. Donovan can be a good defender, but for some reason he's stopped trying. Which is just insane, because multiple stars have talked about they use their defense to get their offense going - you'd think he'd be all over that.

Listened to it... said if the Jazz were to trade Donovan that the Heat would be most aggressive... said the offer would include Herro and upwards to 4 firsts... I don't think they have 4 firsts... but it was interesting.

Seemed pretty tepid on Rudy's trade value. Said Capela and Huerter for Rudy didn't get them excited.

Reading all of LoPo’s arguments after being destroyed is so exhausting. It’s like the typing is coming out of his ***!! No joke. He’s the guy that doubles, triples, quadruple down on something even though he knows he’s wrong because he’s to deep in his own ****!!
I had such a stupid argument any way. There is zero way to truly compare the defenses of Donovan Mitchell and Steph Curry. Different coaches, systems, personnel around them, etc. Our perimeter defense sucks so it doesn't matter if he's better than Steph or not.

Waste of my time.

Bruh you know the reason why the perimeter D sucks so much is largely because of Donovan..

Everybody on our team is a below average perimeter defender. That makes all of them struggle.

No they arent.

Conley/Royce are both solid defenders. Gobert, as far as more "traditional" bigs go, is the best switch defender in the NBA. You put any of those guys on these good defensive teams and they are going to help elevate a team's defense.

Bogey certainly sucks and misses rotations, but he at least tries.

Clarkson/Donovan are space cadets who barely try and are the main reason the Jazz struggle. They deserve 80% of the blame as a duo.

The last thing we should be doing him is using an asset to dump his contract. I don't think that has to be the case, but I wanted to clarify that.

One other thing to add - I think Clarkson and Conley are redundant. If we get some amazing offer for Clarkson and we don't have one for Conley, I would be fine keeping Conley in a lesser role coming off the bench.
I'm nitpicking here, but Clarkson and Conley are not reundant. You can argue whether they are of equal value, but they are VERY different players.

This was a pretty depressing listen. Jake makes our options this offseason sound pretty bleak...doesn't really seem to think there is a path for us to improve the roster much and get better.

Both should be coming off the bench.
With Donovan, that's $60+ million spent on undersized guards who aren't good defenders.

I know they play differently, but I don't think we need both of them along with Donovan. Thats why I think they are redundant.

The improvement has to come from Rudy/Donovan, both individually and how they operate as teammates/leaders.

Donovan has to set the tone as a defender/ball mover/scorer. He has to do everything if he wants to become that top 10 type of player people thought he had potential to be.

Gobert has to continue to do what he does at the high level he does it at, but it would be great if he could add another wrinkle to his game. Either a mid-range jumper or the team giving him more looks during the regular season.

You dont know basketball. That's why you think they are redundant. The redundancy is Mitchell/Clarkson.

You're right, Royce is a solid defender.

There are so many title contenders out there built around expensive offensively limited centers and surrounding them with 1 solid defender and a bunch of below average defenders. Seems like a perfect combination. Almost as perfect as the Mike Conley trade.

When you see guys like Reggie Bullock having a big impact on a playoff game, you realize the major failure of the Jazz wasnt the big moves they made, it was the small moves. The fact that none of our MLE type signings ever had any impact besides negative when we had to trade to get off of them.

But dudes like the weasel still cry about the Conley trade daily.

Our MLE choices have been terrible. Not as terrible as the Conley trade, but very terrible.

Bullock ain't gonna do much. Hell, most thought Rudy Gay would help.

We don't have great perimeter defenders, we lack size, we lack youth and we lack athleticism.

No, we just have a star who has opted to not play defense.
