Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I watch the games closely. And stop there.

Our whole defense is only as good as its weakest link. The Mavs, like the Clippers did, targeted our worst defensive player on the perimeter and put Rudy's man in the corner forcing him to defend two guys at the same time. He oftentimes was in no-man's land because the defense collapsed somewhere else. This resulted in open 3 after open 3 after open 3. If we had decent defenders at the other positions, who could switch and offer minimal rim protection we would be ok.
The system is broken. It funnels to Rudy who wants to stay in the lane area. But other coaches aren't morons. If you put 5 shooters out there while Rudy wants to sit middle, wide open shots will be had.

It's the system that is built around Rudy.

The system isnt broken. The players like Donovan Mitchell not trying on defense is what's broken. The Jazz gave him the keys to the franchise and he said "**** I will stat pad til I get to the Knicks"

Gobert literally had the biggest stop of the series against Luka 1 on 1 at the 3pt line and he cant guard the perimeter?

Rudy lives in no man's land because he doesn't guard the perimeter. He just floats around while the ball moves around in the mixer to the wide open shooter.

Leave me alone, I want to log off haha

As Cy mentioned, no one helps the helper. If the commits to defend the perimeter, the rim will be open (that's why team switch a pg against Rudy)

As long as there are trash perimeter defenders and no one helps, Rudy can't protect the paint nor the perimeter, thus neutralizing his effectiveness

ANd it's not even jsut "trash" it's trash and not giving a ****. You can be a bad defender (like inability to stay in front of skilled offensive players), but if you give effort and are generally making the right rotations, you will be in position to at least somewhat contest. The Jazz couldnt even get to that level because Donovan had so many plays where he literally just standing in a single spot looking like a New York City turnstile.

Cy will never blame Rudy. Hell, he can't even acknowledge how bad the Conley trade screwed us.

A bunch of great perimeter defenders would help, but this system where Rudy hangs out the middle just don't work. It's like running a zone every play against Tom Brady - he will pick that *** apart.

Tom Brady plays basketball? You are dumber than we all thought.

We need all-stars at every position.

And you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
If you are saying Raptor, you are probably right.

Redundant? Yeah, the small not great defenders are redundant. We don't need so many even if they have separate strengths.

Here is a thought for people on this thread: I would be surprised if Danny Ainge wants to pay close to $40 million for a center who can't dribble, shoot or score from more than 3 feet away from the hoop.

Historically, he never has, and I would think he wants to rectify this issue sooner rather than later.

Now maybe the Jazz will keep the defensive center archetype, but they won't pay that much for it. It imposes an opportunity cost to the rest of the roster and forces the Jazz to run specific actions just to make Gobert successful at the level that he is. The Jazz have systemic problems, and that entire system is based around Gobert.

If another team is desperate enough to make a big offer for Gobert, I think the Jazz had better run with it and use the assets to retool. They don't otherwise have the assets to retool and they're backed into a corner.

The only other option I see is to trade other rotational players for draft picks in this draft and hit a homerun on a big two-way guard or wing who can play on the ball and singlehandedly make the Jazz more dynamic.

Straight facts, I couldn't have said it better myself. Pure wisdom
