Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

If Stotts or Ham get the Charlotte job then the Hornets are back on the list of Rudy suitors... it looked like D'Antoni was going to go there. Supposedly Borrego was fired because MJ didn't like the defense...

I think the Hayward, 13, 15, PJ Washington package is about as good of a fit/value as you will find. I'm fine with Gordon because if Hayward and Donovan are healthy you probably still decent. If one guy misses a lot of the season you might decide to take the gap year and tank (like Portland). At 13 you catch whatever wing is sliding and 15 you get Mark Williams. Its basically a gap year if you trade Rudy... this is a decent upside swing and gives us some young guys for when Donovan asks out.

Say what you will about Hayward. He was a good defender and always played hard.

I would take this and offer Hayward + #15 to the Kings for #7 and stuff. If I'm losing Gobert, I want Duren coming back.

Hayward has negative trade value and Kings don’t really have ****** contracts. Take Mark Williams later instead and thank me later.

Williams is a beast, but Duren can dribble, pass, shoot from mid-range and switch on the perimeter. He doesn't need to be right at the rim to score.

Another guy in the mid-1st range to look at is Jaden Hardy, whom I think has some Bradley Beal-level potential.

Plain and simple - I don't want Hayward. We are really going to trade a guy willing to be loyal to Utah for the guy who royally screwed us over?

I'm really high on PJ Washington, but he's still a work in progress. Two picks in the teens are risky. Hayward is overpaid and often hurt and he's a douche.

Solid two way wings with on ball and off ball value don't grow on trees... and I think this is the best potential deal on the table that balances future and present. If he was healthy all the time he wouldn't be available... health is priced in already... so if he is healthy its a huge bonus. Plus he could rebound and you send him to Siberia for assets at the trade deadline or offseason. Do it on the 4th or July or something.

PJ is already a functional starter with potential for more... most draft picks are risky... we won't be getting like an all-star and a starter or a top 5 pick for Rudy. His deal is the riskiest contract in the trade.

I understand. If we are trading with Charlotte, they don't have a good player to send back and they don't have a pick that will be in the top 10. I just don't think we have to take back Gordon's negative value.

PJ, Oubre, Plumlee and a load of picks works financially. We could also look at Bouknight and Thor too.

Charlotte just doesn't excite me straight up.

They have to balance the books though... if there is a Rudy to Charlotte deal I'd bet large sums of money Hayward is in it. He could be spun off to a third team but I think he's a great buy low project.

Hayward is also 32 y.o. Jazz are going to be pushing their timeline back if they move their 30-somethings. If the Jazz take Hayward's contract, they're probably not going to be able to move it later.

I think this could work...

Utah Trades: Gobert
Utah Receives: Capella, Hunter, #7

Atlanta Trades: Capella, Collins, Hunter, #16
Atlanta Receives: Gobert, Barnes

Sacto Trades: Barnes, #7
Sacto Receives: Collins, #16

Plus he left in such a gutless way that I don't see how the fans would ever accept him. Perhaps Ainge likes him because of what he was able to put over on the Jazz, but he might be the only person in Utah that harbors warm feelings for Haywood.

This stuff I understand... would be hard to stomach at first... can't say I'd ever get used to it again. He is still a very good player when healthy.

Man that Sacramento defense would be so rough. I do think they would like to find a way to get someone in beyond Barnes deal... FAs don't go there so the long Collins deal would likely have some appeal.

I could see something like this happening... we likely come out a little too awesome like you might flip Hunter and Collins add salary as needed.

Random trade idea... Some felt my Conley to Washington deal was not fair at all... so a take off of that deal...

Utah out - Mike Conley, NAW
Utah in - KCP and Terrence Ross, #56 pick

Orlando out - Ross
Orlando in - NAW and Rui

Washington out - KCP and Rui, #56
Washington in - Conley

Saves us some money. Gets us some wings... we pray both guys kill it in contract years. Worst case scenario we have cleared the cap for next offseason. If it all goes to hell we could regift KCP and Ross to another team at the deadline.

I could see us just keeping Rui. I think he is far more available than Deni. I just don't think he's a winning player... still a project. Orlando is still in development mode... Rui will pull in a bunch of fans to an empty arena. NAW is salary filler (again).

I still say take Sacramento out and replace Barnes with bogie.

I’d keep Rui. He has potential.
