Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Phoenix is expected to explore sign-and-trade options for Ayton, so they don't get cornered into either accepting or rejecting a max deal in restricted free agency.

Gobert played better in the regular season than Ayton. Ayton played better in the playoffs than Gobert. For that reason I think that Ayton's price sets the price for Gobert.

The Suns don't have any leverage here. Ayton can walk and sign a big deal with whichever team he chooses. The Suns will then have to deal with that team and try to get something in return, but it won't be the kind of haul that would set a market for Gobert.

Or they could match the deal… they have a lot of leverage.

Fine, but if the Suns match on Ayton it won't set the trade market for Gobert. It will just mean someone offered Ayton a max deal and the Suns are matching it to keep him. The key point is that Ayton gets to choose where he's willing to sign, not the Suns.

The Suns will try to line up deals for Ayton that are in their team's interest, but Ayton has veto power over any deal. I don't expect the Suns to get a great haul for Ayton in the end.

I'd get that, but idk, the Magic have sucked *** for a while. I think they would just take it.
I can’t imagine the team that has been enamored with dudes that have crazy length and tools is going to pass up a chance to grab Chet. He’s their wet dream. Even better is that he likely takes a year or two to get his strength and body ready for 82 games so they can continue collecting high picks while he gets there.

I mean if you make Don PG he has crazy length too

You know what I mean though right… Chet is such an Orlando type dude… would be hilarious if they passed on him and he actually hit.

I also don’t think they are giving up on Anthony or Suggs at all yet.

The wizards would never make that trade but if they would then there is no reason to involve the magic. Rui and KCP for Conley would be awesome.
Rui isn't that good. They have Kuzma/Deni/Kispert/KCP/Rui on the wing already... so 3 developing players. They also have Beal on the wing... who wants to win now. They are drafting at 10 and likely will be selecting a wing... they have Ish Smith at point guard.

Now tell me again why they'd never make that trade? Rui isn't a winning player and I don't see him as having a lot of potential. He's old and the stuff he lacks is not stuff that usually comes (passing and defense). Also has some mental health issues which may affect his career. I would very much prefer Deni... I'm guessing they would very much prefer to keep him. Conley is a better than average starting point guard. His playoff issues this last year are somewhat irrelevant for a team that didn't make the playoffs last year.

Crazy thought now that the draft order is set…
Start the rebuild with Mitchell to OKC to pair with SGA, I mean are they finally gonna be ready by the time Shai is 30? Maybe that finally start using these picks to build their team.

Utah out: Donovan Mitchell
Utah in: Josh Giddy/OKC pick this year/Favors

I think OKC will just draft a stud and keep him. I could see a deal where Mitchell gets sent to Sacto for #4 (Ivey or Sharpe). The Sacto GM is fighting to save his job, and we'd be handing him a homerun on a silver platter.

Jazz would need Holmes, Barnes, #4, future 1st and future pick swap. I'm pretty sure the Kings would take that deal.

I live out in Sacramento and was at a school function talking with a couple Kings fans... One said Barnes and 4 for Donovan... you in? I told him it might surprise him how strongly I'd consider it.

Yeah, well you don't need to disclose that to them. No matter how weak our negotiating position is, what matters is how weak their negotiating position is. Kings haven't been in the playoffs in a long-*** time.

The Kings just flat out hosed themselves... with Fox and Sabonis they have a couple tricky guys to build around... basically all three other guys on the court better be good shooters and defenders or its not gonna work.

They can play 5-out though, and Fox and Mitchell would be able to dive bomb to the rim.

I think Juancho is a goner either in trade or waived. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them big adieu to House, Paschal, Forrest, and Whiteside. It potentially gets them below the tax. These are crumbs moves but if they are replaced by minimum wage guys, it saves the owner big denaros. That's why we are here?

I dont think you know how this works… there is no savings in letting minimum guys walk. Juan will be waived and hopefully re-signed at the minimum.he’s not a 7M player so that is 100% the right call.

Interesting but not sure how connected this guy is. Sounds like he repeats what he gets from hoopshype

I think they're the local ESPN Radio Affiliate in Charlotte, like Spence Checketts in Salt Lake City (ESPN700). The radio guest is some kind of reporter for SI.

He's saying that CHA is hard-pressed to move Gordon Hayward in order to free up money to sign Miles Bridges to a big deal, and he thinks CHA will move their draft picks, PJ Washington and Hayward. He also thinks Mike D'Antoni is the front-runner for the head coaching job, though they're still interviewing Darvin Ham. I think the Jazz would need added incentive to take Hayward's deal, or there would need to be a 3rd team involved.
