Don for Herro plus two bad contracts in Robinson/Lowry and late picks would basically negate the deal we just made for Rudy.If we got Herro hopefully we ship him out immediately.

This is where I’m at. I think as Jazz fans, we’re a little too close to the situation to see it clearly enough and we all have a little Donovan fatigue. In reality, he might be worth building around from here on out.If Gobert set the floor and Mitchell set the ceiling, they might be positioning to do a one year tank in and see if they can be a contender nearer to the end of Don’s deal.
I don’t like it, but it is hard to find legit, premier scorers and we currently have a young one under a real contract. I do not endorse this but I can see it if I squint enough.
I can understand the logic. But I think what we “know” we have in Donovan is not someone who will ever be the core piece in a championship team. This is where I’m at. The dude is a 25 year old guard who can drop 35+ in big playoff moments pretty consistently. If we hit the reset button on a complete rebuild, how many draft picks do we spend on trying to find a scorer of Donovan’s ilk?
I look at it like this: We know what we have (and what we don’t) in Donovan. Now we have plenty of assets to try and assemble the remainder of a team around his strengths and weaknesses. It might not sound like the sexiest solution but might be the best one.
I see it too from a talent and contract point but how much confidence the Jazz FO have that Mitchell won't pout and ask for a trade later? And Mitchell will have all the leverage his last 2 years. If Gobert set the floor and Mitchell set the ceiling, they might be positioning to tank with Donovan and see if they can be a contender nearer to the end of Don’s deal.

I'd possibly be for getting Simmons, let him sit out the year to rehab, tank, then get a superstar potential player in the darft (lol) to pair with him.My current wish is the Jazz become the team to facilitate the KD trade. Using Mitchell as the major asset the Nets get back. Jazz get drowned in picks + young players. Simmons has to be on the move in that scenario. Maybe even to Utah, would be an amazing tank scenario.
But if it’s Phoenix keep Ayton far away. I’d want Bridges and all their picks.
It's like people forgot the guy dropped 50+ in one playoff series, TWICE. Karl Malone couldn't even do that. Hell, that's something you see guys like Jordan do.If Gobert set the floor and Mitchell set the ceiling, they might be positioning to tank with Donovan and see if they can be a contender nearer to the end of Don’s deal.

We don't "know" anything. Donovan is just 25 and his accomplishments through his first 5 years put him on a very tiny list of players in the history of the game.I can understand the logic. But I think what we “know” we have in Donovan is not someone who will ever be the core piece in a championship team.
You get the chance to flip him for 4-5 first round picks, it’s an easy decision.
That's exactly what was said.Ben Simmons has to get moved then too.
That does seem the most likely scenario. For all we know Illuminati-Ainge has some deal lined up to bring LeBron and Durant here to pair with Don. That's why they dropped that "We never picked Utah" bombshell a year back at the ASG selections. Utah picked them.

Don remaining silent tells it all. That does seem the most likely scenario.
Forgive me kingTrue, I should really mention that in the third sentence of the first paragraph.
Lol like basically become the Thunder. Not a bad idea at all. Mitchell isn't good enough to carry a gutted team. He'd be furious though. He would for sure ask out and probably aggressively. If Gobert set the floor and Mitchell set the ceiling, they might be positioning to tank with Donovan and see if they can be a contender nearer to the end of Don’s deal.

Maybe that could be the way we do it.So gut team, clear max cap space for 23.
Trade for picks.
Keep Don on and deal with him all season.
Hopefully draft Vik.
Have enough assets to both sign a max free agent and trade for an all-star.
Biggest issue is that max free agent list isn't great. Hard to see anyone coming to Utah. Then after that it's just overpaying for mid.Maybe that could be the way we do it.
Play Vanderbilt, Butler, Kessler and Balmero a ton.
Promise Don great things starting in 2023.

He can break Kobe's 81. ****, let him top Wilt's 100.Maybe Don could average like 33 points a season and that'd be enough to keep him happy
