Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

The best way I can break it down is the odds are so slim that any of the picks we get from the Knicks end up in the top-3 and net us a player like Barrett. We’re talking super low odds.
The inverse is true, too, that the picks we get (and got) for Mitchell and Gobert are unlikely to yield us players of their quality, yet this is the pathway we‘ve committed to.

Again, I reiterate, if the Jazz front office believes Barrett can be a top 3 player on a championship team, then he is worth taking, and since we are also netting at a minimum 2 unprotected first round draft picks in such a scenario, I’m on board.

Everything I here is that this is a generational draft coming up. If we trade Don We could have as many as 5 picks in the first round in this draft. Presumably we’d have a great shot at a top 3 pick. The more picks we have after that the better to get a steal or do some dealing for a good player or another high pick. I have a feeling firsts will be extra valuable this year during and after the season.

We will be getting Minnesota’s and Philadelphia’s 1sts which will be likely late teens at best and late 20’s at worst. The Knicks 2023 1st could be sneaky good next year as I see them as a play-in team. Other than that though or best shot at a top-3 pick us our own pick. We could still get Barrett and the Knicks 2023 1st in the same deal easily.

Show me an article or report that says the Knicks want to dump Barrett.
I doubt they want to dump him but he hasn't been extended yet and there were a number of articles questioning whether he was worth the max.

Also, its likely a different pathway if they get Donovan or not. 2 max players under 6'1" plus another under 6'6"?

Brunson didn’t get a true max and Barrett’s max will be a bargain contract in 2 years.

It sure isn't a cut and dry decision and Donovan wouldn't make it an easier decision imho.

It seems they're planning on keeping him since they're unwilling to include him in any trade discussions.

I’d be perfectly happy getting Barrett in the deal as long as a number of quality unprotected picks are still involved.

Question for those who want Barrett. . . If a Barrett deal (including the same picks as a non-Barrett deal) requires the Jazz to take back Julius Randle’s 4 year contract as well, is that a price worth paying?

Under no circumstance should we take back Randle. The Knicks having to deal with that contract is what adds the value to the draft picks we get from them. They might solve it, but it will cost them over and above whatever they pay to us.

I agree. Just thought the question was worth asking.

Postering? Do you believe every report you read? There is clearly a debate to be had about maxing him out. If he was in Utah I doubt we would all be thrilled about maxing him out.

Agree with that. This year is a very important year if we want to rebuild fast. Getting as much picks as possible is a must. Trading Don for this a the good option.

An easy way to end the debate would be for them to extend him - thus removing him from the equation. Some have speculated that the reason they haven’t done so is because he’s still on the table. I don’t know. Either way, I expect that Danny Ainge will extract maximum value for Donovan whenever this trade gets finalized.

But enough about the **** that doesn't even ****ing matter. Let's talk about some real stuff of importance.

Who has the best chicken sandwich around? Call me boring, but the ol' Chick-fil-a one pickle standby is always pretty on point.

Spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s and Popeye’s is better.
