Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Toronto’s best offer would be pretty ****ing good. The Knicks would likely have to add Barrett with all of their unprotected 1sts or trade 7 of their 8 1sts to beat that offer. Only problem is if Toronto is offering it or not. They might be offering something close especially since they are keeping Barnes and Siakam out of the deal.
I think the dust will start to settle when/if Durant is ever moved. I don't think many teams want to give their best offer for Donovan until they know they're completely out of it on KD.

Would the nets do that?

They'd create a $12M TPE and would lower their luxury tax bill significantly. Assuming that they'd also likely be trading Durant to Boston for a package of something like Brown, White, picks, I think it'd make sense.

Simmons - Harris - Brown - Bojan - Claxton

Two super athletic wings that can create surrounded by shooters.

They won't let Irving go for that cheap. Clearing the books is nice, but they are going to want more assets in return.

What team wants Ky? He is a FA at end of year.

Also, would they be happy to be out the Ky business?

The options for Brooklyn are likely Lakers for a pretty meh return... or 1 more year with Ky before he walks. Depends on KD but its not a great spot to get a good return.

I don't think any team wants to trade for Ky personally. They'll assume that they can get him after the season free of charge and they're right - I can't imagine there's more than 2-3 teams he wants to play for.

Fischer saying Utah isnt that desperate to trade Donovan. Says a lot of people in the org would prefer to keep him and that they are trying to work something out with Cleveland to put Sexton together with Mitchell.

I'm guessing Zanik and Ryan Smith want to keep him, and Ainge wants to trade him. The idea that the Jazz want to pair Mitchell with another 6'1 guard in the backcourt after seeing how it worked out with Don/Conley is absolutely baffling to me.

I still think he'll be moved before the season starts.

I dont think Fischer's sources are any of those 3. A lot more people work in the FO than Ainge/Zanik.

I also think they can get their lines crossed then make assumptions... like he has been consistent that we are keeping an eye on Sexton... so maybe its that we have interest in Sexton and also we are fine with keeping Don, but not necessarily that we are trying specifically to pair those two.

I think the front office is likely on the same page or close to it. Get a **** ton of stuff for Donovan or start the season with him on the roster.

September 6th or thereabouts is where we and others really start to show our cards. If nothing happens once we can aggregate the salaries from the Minny trade... then we might be really keeping him and I could see a move for a vet frontcourt player. If we move Bogey, Bev, etc to the Lakers for their picks it shows our hand a bit - though I could see Ainge saying that was a good deal and we will still keep Don and be a 30 win team if we don't get what we want. The big urgency imo is related to cashing in on our vets. I think we could still do it and keep Donovan... we'd still be ******. I'd worry an injury happens or it gets ugly (like KD now or Harden in Houston)... but if the return is like 2 unprotected Knicks picks and 2 protected picks... then you can chance it a bit.

Finally the KD deal gets done one way or another and if the Raps didn't get him then it really opens up the chance they give us a strong bid.
