Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

What I was referring to is buying out Jae vs. trading Jae for Danny Green and seconds.
Someone needs to remind Ryan you can sell second round picks for money on draft night... even if you don't make the pick they could turn into cash!!!

From Kevin O' Conner:

Utah has been connected to the Lakers for months, too. League sources say that before the Jazz sent Bojan Bogdanovic to the Pistons, the Lakers offered Westbrook, a future first-round pick, and second-rounders for Bogdanovic and others. Sources expect the Lakers and Jazz to resume talks later in the season with some combination of other players discussed. (Utah has Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, and Rudy Gay—three veterans who can all shoot.)

Supposedly an offer of one first and some seconds. Who knows who else besides Bogey was in the deal. I assume Mike. I assume the asked about Vando.

I wonder if the Jazz have the appetite to move Mike/JC with the team playing so well. I have to think their trade value has gone up with Mike showing he isn't washed and JC showing to be a more complete player.

The Jazz could potentially pivot from here and decide to be mildly competitive this year, then tank next year. I doubt it though. Once the Jazz show they're not really a playoff team, the Jazz would be happy to move Mike, move Rudy Gay if they can, and maybe another player or two. Jazz just need some losses to pile up so everyone can see that they're not really a 45-win team.

We have too much young talent to tank harder next year. Trading Mike/JC/KO would create some voids. Gay has actually been really good too thus far. I expect Lauri/Kessler/Sexton/Vando/Ochai to all be better next year. I definitely don't think that is the plan.

My guess is we slow down a bit but are able to find deals for some of the vets and we end up 7th/8th worst in the league.

I wish KO was trade eligible earlier... I think the Lakers would be pretty stoked to get KO/Beasley and either Conley or JC right now.

I really don't want to trade Mike at this point...he's so critical in the development of the kids. He can also be strategically rested throughout the season *wink, wink*. I see untapped potential in Vandy, Sexton, THT and hopefully too in guys like Fontecchio and Agbaji who haven't had minutes yet. Vandy, Sexton, THT almost play too hard and need to learn to slow down just a milisecond to see the floor. Mike has that ability to see plays develop beforehand where some of our kids are like bulls in the damn china shop which btw I like since you can teach a kid to slow down but you can't motivate a kid to play hard. Even Olynyk and Kessler play that way too. Ainge definitely has a type when it comes to acquiring and developing players. Agbaji is supposed to be a guy too that can obviously shoot but is also super athletic.

Obviously Markk is currently our most talented player, both skillwise and physically, and is not getting traded.

The guys I would look to potentially deal are Beasley, JC(sadly), Gay, Olynyk, and maybe NAW(as a filler contract if necessary). I really do think JC is showing that he belongs on a contender. Minutes should open up for Agbaji and Fontecchio after a few of these guys are dealt.

I was listening to Locke last week who said he had a conversation with Sexton's dad who was very complimentary of Conley. He said Collin had learned more from Mike in training camp than he had learned his first few years playing in Cleveland. From the outside it just seems Conley is having a very positive impact on the potential development of the young kids.

I’m not sure what to think of this. If the Lakers offered this and we didn’t take it we’re we holding out for both firsts?

I'm not sure either. Could be the pick was protected. Could be they asked for Vando too. Could be DA holding out for both firsts.

Lakers may start 0-6... I think they do no better than 1-5. Thats with Lebron and AD healthy and playing fairly well. I gotta think two first could be on the table and JC/Mike trade value is trending up. With the way JC is playing he can get us a first at some point on his own. I gotta think LA gets desperate here soon. Lebron's body language was so bad yesterday. Lakers gonna pay the tax and send a lotto pick to NO for the second year in a row.

And if they strike out next summer, or if Lebron, Kyrie and AD + scraps isn't good enough, it will be three straight years. They badly need to upgrade.
Pelicans can swap with LAL in '23, while the '24 pick goes to Pelicans, unless Pels defer it to '25. Then they're done.

Oh I’m aware. It’s a big reason I really wanted us to get their picks as they have no great ways to reload and are one of the most dysfunctional front offices in the league. In 3-4 years we may look at Pelinka and put him on the Mount Rushmore of ****** GMs in this era. Everyone thinks he’s waiting for some star to break loose but I think he’s really just trying to give himself an excuse to get more runway.

I've heard lately that LAL can't sink a penny in the ocean. They Cleary need Shooting like Clarkson.
We're all impressed by those three victories. Let's be honest - players do their Job and that is great BUT this Team is not built for Championship We desperately need franchise talent like 1-5 pick or luck like Donovan at 13
THIS IS FO JOB to get those talent to UTH. Owner have also said lately we need to built through draft. So NOW we're waiting for Danny's next move.........

I'd be surprised if we make a trade any time soon now. Especially a trade with either Conley or Clarkson. That probably only happens if we hit a wall and start filling up the loss column. We can take our foot of the pedal when the playoffs start to become out of reach.

I’m just catching up on the thread, but you did, one page ago in a JC/Vanos to PHX deal.

You ****in with me right now?
I did but that was a while ago. So I already quit trying to trade Vando.

I think he's limited and in preseason he didn't quite have the full Vando energy... I'm impressed... but when he really broke my brain was when he stroked to open threes last night. I have no hopes for him as a shooter... but if he developed a strangely consistent corner three like PJ Tucker or Baynes it would change my opinion of him as a player by quite a bit. It would be pretty fluky as he is not a good FT shooter and has not shot the three well on very limited attempts... but weird **** happens sometimes and it looked very fluid. I need to see Vando shoot 200 hundred threes this year now.

Didn't he airball a 3 immediately after making one?
