2023 NBA Draft Megathread

One realistic player that I like and think we have an actual chance of getting is Caleb Love from North Carolina.
Cy, why don't you like Caleb Love? I see a player that is athletic, 6'4", can score and distribute, and steps up in big games. I also think he could be available in the late teens or early 20s. That is quality for the 2nd half of the 1st round even if underwhelming vs a top 2 pick like Victor or Scoot.

Suspect shooting 6'3ish athletic combo guards are a dime a dozen

If he can prove to be a more consistent shooter maybe there is something there, but if not he probably isn't a 1st rounder for me (pending who actually declares).

Like, do I want Caleb Love more than Ricky Council or Terrence Shannon Jr?

Just comparing upperclassmen athletic players. The latter two have more size to be versatile off ball players. Shannon Jr can actually shoot. Council is a more explosive finisher.

I only want Love if we got him in the second round and we already drafted Dick... and we retain Gay and Sexton. We can rebrand and the Utah Innuendos.

I'm almost hoping Whitehead doesn't get on track so we can buy low on this kid. I forgot just how talented he was after watching these last few duke games. There is a smoothness to his game that kind of reminds me of Dominique Wilkins. He is definitely not the same caliber of leaper as him though.

Maybe I'll post a few vids later but Brandon Miller. He had a bad game last time out but can't help but see a little bit of TMac in him.

This draft is loaded. Honestly Scoot might be the one player that I *might* avoid in the top 5 and that has all to do with his size/archetype. Obviously he's fantastic but he's also reminding me more of Derrick Rose. Those types of smaller, quick guards just don't stay healthy in today's league. Even Rose couldn't stay healthy. Currently most of the NBA assist leaders are bigger playmakers such as Jokic, Doncic, Draymond. Haliburton is actually leading the league in assists and is also a pretty good size at 6'-5".

Scoot gonna be phenomenal. Has the nuclear athleticism with the cerebral game. Can't overthink it.

They are both decent options too for a non-lottery first round pick.

He is going top 6 even if he doesn't imo.

Ofc but he really has been the antithesis of the Ainge drafting model. Based on his drafting in Boston he drafted the big wings (Tatum/Brown) in the top 4. Once he got to the mid/late lottery he took a shot on bigger guards who were a little less ball dominant such as Smart. It's impossible to say what he would do with 2 lottery picks unless he somehow got #1 and that pick would be fairly obvious.

Maybe he runs to the podium to hand in the card for Scoot if they get lucky enough to land the #2 pick.
