Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

If I’m understanding you, you’re a Fin who is here because Lauri, but also more down on Lauri than one would expect, and now you use the collective ‘we’ to suggest we trade him. What are you hoping for in return, as you presumably are on a Jazz forum because of Lauri?
What the hell are you talking about??

What if, I'm not saying we SHOULD... Ainge decides to trade Lauri for the 4th pick and also trades 9, 28, and future 1st rd for the 6th. Then Ainge focuses on drafting the Thompson twins at 4th and 6th, thus making the Thompson twins and Kessler the main core for the Jazz. I've seen fan trades like this recently. Thoughts?

Awful

KOC of The Ringer was talking about how the new CBA is going to influence decisions this off-season more than we realize
If that Westbrook trade positions the Jazz to take advantage of a team that’s desperate this off-season, then it could yield an even better result than the Lakers ‘27 protected pick. There’s a lot of flexibility for the Jazz to grab a really great asset to use in a future move for a star from somewhere.

Agreed. To move Lauri for the 3rd pick as a few JFers have been talking about is silly.

Now... if a team wants to give us another Timberwolves-caliber deal... that's a different story!
Agreed, that's what it would have to be, although getting a guaranteed 3rd pick may necessitate getting slightly fewer picks back. Two more frps, a swap and Simons may be hard to say no to. It depends on who is there at 3. I'm not sure I want to trade skilled height for Scoot. He is good, but he is also short, and I would prefer to watch a team with a pass first pg that hits shots within the flow (surprising for a Jazz fan, right? :) ).

BTW… it’s not weird to talk trading Lauri… we traded Rudy and Don last year… it’s been a “sports radio” type thing thrown out… it’s simply a what if… it has a low likelihood of happening and if it did I’m somewhat convinced most would agree with the decision. My guess is it would be #3 pick plus some other stuff if Ainge was compelled to complete the deal. I doubt Portland would overpay… but that’s what it would take… and it’s a scenario that could materialize… like a 2-3% type of scenario.

Ideally we could find a way to get #3 without Lauri or Kessler.

It's weird

It’s not… it happens all the time… a notable super fan of a EC finals team is wondering if trading Brown for #3 is something. It’s natural for fans and humans to consider what-ifs.
Bill Simmons is also weird. I'm not saying you can't do it, but so far every one I've read has been absolutely dumb

Nah… his appeal is that he’s a sports guy that does sports guy things. This is a fan board where we can go wild. It’s weirder to not consider every path this team can take.
