TMZ reports that Kobe Bryant passed away.

Would it be impossible to move this thread to 'General discussion' section of the forum instead of 'Utah Jazz'? I don't mind discussing what is rape and what the plus and minuses of the me too-movement are, but I don't think this is the place for that discussion (and actually the whole thread under the original topic is in the wrong place to begin with?). I'd rather see this section dedicated to actual Utah Jazz talk.

For this to be factual, you’d not only have to not know what went on between Kobe and his accuser, but have been personally present for every single sexual assault claim since that pesky “me too” movement started and have intimate knowledge of each and every case in order to know how many women are lying and how many are being truthful.

I have a sincere hope that someday it dawns on you just how incredibly stupid you sound right now and learn not to talk out of both sides of your mouth- especially when it comes to victims, but I’m not very hopeful any of that will actually happen.

Take the “L” and move on. You’re embarrassing yourself.

I've never seen this thread on here, I'm not sure if I was active back then. So random thought from me and in no way am I trying to trivialize Kobe's death. But it was just after that that everything just seemed to go to really bad in the world. It was like a ominous sign for what to expect in 2020. It was like no matter your race, gender, social status, political affiliation, age, etc this year's is going to kind of suck for all of you. Nobody gets to have a #GreatYear or will be #Loving My Life for a little while.

A guy like Miles Bridges will eventually be marketable again if hes good enough and stays clean for long enough for other people to take the negative spotlight away from him.

Just the way this stuff works.

Demonstrably false, especially in the context of this thread.

Now in context of people selectively forgetting heinous behavior and again embracing a celebrity, or athlete as you said, sadly people in general are willing to overlook a lot if it means they get some marginal benefit from it, like someone to cheer for. That's a sad commentary on our society actually.

Really don't think people do it for a benefit and I don't think it's selective. They do it because it's too much of a burden to keep score in your head of what everyone's social currency is. Plus doing it for a dead guy seems so trivial.

Also I think it's good we hold celebrities to a higher standard now. I don't think Kobe's rebrand would have been possible in today's age, at least now how easily he did it

This is wrong. I have no agenda with Kobe, hell back then I had hoped he’d go to jail. But guess what over time the whole damn world forgot. I had forgotten till this thread was bumped. I get no benefit from people looking the other way. I’ve never rooted for Kobe. Hell I cheered when Kobe tore his Achilles and got flack from everyone here. Where were was this same distain for Kobe when I was getting killed for being happy he was going to have to sit out a year. You forgot too. Lol

First, the forgetting is part of what I was getting at. Second, you aren't part of the people in general part, obviously. But my comment still stands. It was crazy how many Kobe apologists jumped on this thing when it happened and how hard they went after the victim, and now he is revered. Part of our selective memory as a society.

I never liked Kobe.

I also would love to believe he did rotten things, however bitches are crazy. They just are. Especially when it comes to money or relationships
