You're late on this take, it was pretty obvious that this team would be *** to watch for years to come. We literally traded a generational player and a sure-fire perennial all-star that we were comparing to MJ and KB for a few seasons -- for unknown draft picks that we wont know if they can even hit a fraction of that potential for several years. The fact that Lauri has been better than we thought has made it incrementally better, but this is still without a doubt a bonafide **** show that will persist for years without something crazy happening.

On the other hand, those posts could have easily been incorrect if not for the trade deadline deals. So the trading of Rudy and Mitchell isn't the reason for the sucking badly as those 2022 posts would indicate.
It's the trading of Conley/Beasley/vando/NAW and the trading of KO/Simone/Ochai (combined with sitting healthy players) that is making us suck badly.
This tells us that we can be right back in the playoff hunt whenever decide to be.

We had a very good chance to make the playoffs last year and this year and decided that we would rather get more assets with the intention of winning a championship rather than just making the playoffs.

I mostly agree the exception being that we had a very good chance to make the playoffs this year. We had a run and would've been in the mix, but holding GS and LA out of the playoff would have been challenging. And a play-in game or two wouldn't have gotten us far. But I get your point and agree with your general perspective.

The fundamental flaw that concerns me with this roster and our developing core is the fact that we still can't play perimeter defense. That has been our primary issue since last season. We have been prioritizing Hendricks defensive development and I'm sure perimeter defense is a top priority in this draft for us at 9.

The issue (for me) is less of making the playoffs and more of being fun to watch or seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Even when we were on the verge of making a play in game there were very few “fun to watch” moments (for me) last or this season. The drama and potential for greener pastures just hasn’t really been tangible since the original blockbuster trades, and sure they can can come but they haven’t yet so that’s reality for now.

He's already talking about building his brand during interviews.

I think I'm over the NBA and its culture.

These kids, get possies of influencers and manipulators stuck on their backs as barnacles who put a bug in their ear about strategizing toward celebrity status.

I just want to see good basketball on both ends. An offense with lots of movement and passing to get good shots, and disiplined defense.

I'm all for a rebuild, but want to see good disiplines play along the way.

Creating a culture of smart ball will translate through as players develop and more talent is brought in. A culture of selfish or lazy play will also carry through...

So the Jazz are now 3-16 since the trade.

I'll admit, it's a first class tank job to get this 9th pick or whatever in a weak draft. And it makes draft night interesting to watch.

But this season has been one of the most uninteresting since the Corbin days. For those of you still watching, I commend you. I'm not sure how you do it, but I'm impressed nonetheless. I can't do it, and I'm someone who has bought League Pass since 2001 to watch every Jazz game. I'm more stunned just how little I care, which I never thought I'd say.

Maybe I'm wrong but reading between the lines had a feeling KG was part of the group Hardy was calling out a few nights ago when he was going on about players' social media accounts, etc. No doubt KG can be a good one but still has alot to improve on this offseason (defense, shooting, turnovers) before he should be worrying about his brand. I suppose that's the culture these young kids grew up in and suppose too that's a reason Don wanted out due to his "brand." Not saying it's strictly a US thing but not sure you see as much of that stuff from the international star players. When it comes to KG, even if they believe he's the future he needs earn the minutes like anyone else although my guess is the FO has a say in playing time at this point.

I understand they are "tanking" while giving development minutes to the kids after the deadline but it's alot of eyesore to gain a #9 pick in a weak draft. Even if they lose the rest of their games not sure they catch Brooklyn as the 8th worst record. It's no wonder they may have lost Lauri's trust and I wouldn't blame him one bit. They can give him a max type extend and sign this summer but not sure how that fixes things on the court after 2 straight years of sabotage at the deadline. Ainge/Zanik need to pick a direction this offseason (tank or win) and no more of this tanking after the deadline BS.

Out of last night's carnage Kira Lewis emerged as a bright spot after Dunn was ejected. I thought he played decently. The game was already decided but I thought he balled out.

Well our defense stepped up in the second half, we held them under 70 pts. :) I think Houston's shooters got tired.

It's highly difficult to develop young dudes without a minimum structure and at least a floor of real competitiveness.
Jazz destroyed that 2 years in a row, last year they decided not to tank properly for VW, and now they decided a late tank in a what almost everybody basketball related consider a subpar draft class.
I know I don't know $hit, but it all appears to be consistently a bad choice after another.

Offense is not the issue. If Key, Sexton and Lauri are here next year, that side of the ball is gonna work itself out.

We need 2-3 guys who play really good defense and arent totally useless on the other end.

Then again, if we trade Sexton/Lauri then talking about "needs" is pointless.
Offense is an issue as of now. Current guards are not nearly good enough for neither Lauri, Taylor, Walker or John to become best versions of themselves. Sure these score first guards rack up assists, bc the ball sticks on their hands 10+ seconds. But their reads and timing to take advantage more with our bigs... Is not anywhere near. Dunn is clearly the best with that, but his self creation is a hindrance. Have to get rid at least of JC and THT and bring in guards/wings with higher IQ.

So, err, I missed this game (and a couple of other games recently, for some reason), but I noticed Dunn only played a few minutes, and now he's all of a sudden suspended. What did he do?
