What's new

Turns out Hard Willy was asking Lauri if he's good to go and as he was, Hardy thought it's good for him have this kind of experiences for the future - for the pLaYoFfS!
Yeah, I'm seeing the quotes now from the triple team. Giving Lauri 42 minutes in March of this year so he is ready for playoff basketball in future years, seem like the most irrational reason yet.

Honestly, the only logical reason that makes sense to me is to see what the end of bench players look like next to him.

Is it irrational? I think getting to go against Wemby in a competitive game is good for development.

Also Hardy has an issue right now due to his bench guys sucking *** and apparently not being super interested in playing hard/smart.

So yeah, there is this motto of "earning minutes" but when nearly no one is actually earning minutes, you have to give minutes to someone. So are you going to give it to the bench guys who are all bad/doing dumb things or give them to your stars who actually play well/smart?

Not gonna lie, if the Jazz manage to fall to the 8th pick after being .500 at the trade deadline, that is damn impressive tanking.
I'm curious. Do we have the worst record in the league since the trade deadline?

Getting more time playing against Wemby kind of makes sense, but that's not what was quoted. The quote was that you play a lot of minutes in the playoffs and so we are letting Lauri experience that. Also, Wemby didn't play the entire second half so it wasn't just about getting time against him.

Sending a message is probably right.

Here is what I think it was… we were headed towards a loss… he was available… we know he wants to play… we know they may hold him out later… so I. The moment they just let him roll. Nothing deeper than that. Just a tanking compromise.

Yes, it is.

It might make sense, even a lot of sense, if there was a plan. Let's say: we'll play Lauri 22-24 minutes in the 2nd half in every 3rd/4th game. Depending on the circumstance obviously - you're not gonna do that in a blowout.

But I'd be stunned if this was anything but a complete one-off, by the seat of Hardy's pants thing.

Agree. It was a just let him play in the moment thing.
