Will Hardy is exactly what this team needs

What amazes me is that such a young coach could be so fundamental and old school. I absolutely love that Hardy benched the rookies last night, if he felt they weren't up to snuff. Hardy represents all of the best things that are missing from today's NBA coach (and from society in general, but that's another conversation for another day).

I love that, even though everyone -- players included -- know that the Jazz's season is over, he's running the team like they're in the midst of a playoff hunt. Emphasizing the "small" things (which are actually the big things) is exactly what this squad needs. Frankly, this part of this season is precisely where norms and culture are best reinforced. I absolutely love it. The Jazz players are in good hands with Will Hardy.

Hopefully the younguns get the message.

Not buying it. Way too early to proclaim him being anything but so far I'm not impressed with his player development skills and his strange rotations the way he gives vets undeserved minutes. The NAW situation still irks me because he was our best perimeter defender and was buying into that Swiss army knife type of role yet Hardy didn't like him for some reason. Instead I have to watch him be a great glue guy for a wolves team that we don't want to be good.

Honest question, does he have a half dozen post all star break W's on his resume yet?

I think Hardy is a better Snyder but he doesnt come without faults. I do not think it's his fault we dumped 7 players at the half back to back years (that's the front office). I think he's trying his best with the crap the FO has given him. I think the FO fed him and the fans a load of **** with these championship aspirations and then dump players for almost nothing. I don't mind if the goal needs to be be bad but stop letting them play or be decent up until the trade deadline just to dump 3-4 players for honestly terrible picks. We should have tanked properly last year and this year....... but now we're looking like we're going to tank the next 2 years and have pretty ****** players until NEXT years draft. Keyonte is at least 2 years away from leading a team and that's a BEST case scenario. I personally don't see it. He is nowhere near dwill or Donovan and is VERY close to Burke. Look at their stats on their rookie years.

Burke: 12.8 pts, 90% fts, 33% from 3, 38% fg.
Keyonte: 12.6 pts, 85%, 32.9% from 3, 38.4% fg.

They are literally SPITTING images of each other. Both were given the keys to do whatever they wanted.... and both are looking not good. Dwill and Donovan both came to the Jazz and lead us to the playoffs... Keyonte could have too honestly but..... he's a little too close to someone else who was awful than great.

I haven’t seen any evidence for this. He hasn’t developed any of the young players yet and the older players are constantly getting injured or traded away. So I dont think you can give him much credit as of yet. I will say this, his defensive strategies even with the older more talented players leaves a lot to be desired. Were historically bad defensively this year. Just awful. He needs to be held accountable for this to a certain degree. Can’t blame the players for everything.

The way the FO has managed things I dont have any idea if Hardy is good or not. If he has an ounce of competitiveness he can't be happy with the hand he has been dealt.

We're not going to know what Hardy is until he gets a roster that's put together rather than torn down. What systems and plays he implements, how he uses certain players, how he manages star egos, etc. all remain to be seen.

Coaches who scream and yell at their players don't last long in the NBA. As intense as Quinn was, he seemed to always have good relationships with his players. He blames the rookies for not playing well when he is the one who gave them more minutes than they can handle.

I think the Jazz players know full well that the tank is on, that the front office wants them to lose games, and it's now become a question of whether guys want to practice hard. Even Collin Sexton seems to have let up a bit.

Sexton was Bricky McBricky last night in the first quarter and did not seem to want to sprint back quickly on D after aforesaid bricks.

It might work out but this is two years in a row of being gut punched - hard to stay motivated when you know you cant compete and the FO is fine with being really bad.
