What's new

Salt Lake City Summer League: July 5-8 @ Huntsman Center

Lmao, Im looking at the Jazz roster and I was like "Who the **** is JZ Zaher".

Looked him up. He averaged 4 PPG his senior year of HS. Went to school for 2 years at Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan, averaged 0.7 PPG and never played.

He's the nephew of Tom Gores, the Detroit Pistons owner.

That's a far far far far far far far bigger example of nepotism than Omar Cooper Jr being an assistant coach for SL. There are probably people on this forum who are more qualified to play in the NBA SL than JZ Zaher.

JZ Zaher being on the SL team is a down payment for a big upcoming Pistons/Jazz trade @Handlogten's Heros
It's only natural. This organization has sent a very obvious signal that we don't mind nepotism... from the very top of the organization to the very bottom. I find it hard to have a huge problem with Cooper and Zaher who will very likely be gone in a month, when our owner hires his BYU budies and their kids to the very top of decision-making positions, without interviews, without any formal process...

Maybe there is someone that Cody is better than.

Cooper and Zaher aren't comparable.. Literally nothing I have ever seen is as bad as Zaher being on a team's SL roster. We are talking about a HS bench warmer.

Cooper Jr can play basketball and has played basketball at a good level. And he was hired to be a grad assistant at his alma matter. He has, to some degree, earned the position he is in.

He's not there to play basketball. He's there to coach... which he has never done until now. Great to have your first coaching job be in the NBA. But again... I don't blame him or Zaher for any of this. It's others that have turned the Jazz into Nepo Town.

He got hired to be a grad assistant. Are you really trying to argue that a guy who averaged 5 PPG in HS and .7 in college getting on a SL roster is the same as a grad assistant getting an assistant coaching job on a SL team? It's not.

And turned the Jazz into Nepo Town? What are you talking about? It was just as much nepotism in the Jazz FO with the Millers. You are being inane.

Omar Cooper Jr is a kid who is taking all the rights steps to advance his career. He became a college player and got hired to be a grad assistant. He deserves a chance at coaching jobs and a SL internship is a great way to get experience in a way any college graduate would get an internship.

JZ Zahar is cosplaying as a NBA basketball player (something he has zero shot of doing, he has zero shot at being a pro in any league in the world) and there's zero reason for him being in the position he is in. You are unbelievably stupid if you conflate the two as being similar.

He's not been a grad assistant. He's got an offer for that, which he hasn't accepted it seems... This would have been a great first coaching job for him...

No, I'm not trying to argue anything, except... neither of them would be where they are(or in similar position) except for who they are relatives with. Is one like 99.99999% nepotism or 99.983% nepotism? Who cares?

I bet there has always been nepotism in the NBA and in the Jazz... and pretty much in any business, really. But this has been particularly obvious and striking...

SL gonna be 10x more fun without Kenny. Man he was a big let down last year.
