I don't understand. Didn't we just sign RJ Luis Jr.? How are we getting 2 2nds for him? A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.
Celtics are saving a bit of money and opening a roster spot.

can't believe he got an eight million dollar contract. him and kj can compare notes.
Great piece of business renting out cap space for picks.
Locke raved about how great Niang was in the locker-room. Basically said he kept the Jazz together mentally.

Does that take up the whole exception or does it just subtract from it? Not quite sure how trade exceptions work, if someone more knowledgeable could weigh in.
Kind of funny RJ Luis JR got more back than Collin Sexton. (and yes I get the tax implications, but still funny)
Pretty sure it takes the whole thing and you cant divvy it up, could be wrong.
Niang is now 32, on the verge of having 10 years in the NBA. I remember when the Jazz picked him out of the Gleague. I think he started on a 2-way contract.
Kind of sad for Niang. Being a Boston area kid, Im sure it was his dream to play for the Celtics.
Again, I refuse to believe the same front office who did this deal and the John Collins deal is responsible for the Collin Sexton trade.

My understanding is you can break it up. Should still have about $18M left on the TPE to use.
TBH Niang is perfect for our team. He makes players better, is a great guy, and may have a trade value at the deadline for a team looking to add a shooter for a 2nd rounder.
