Chicken Littles can all suck it. This kid is going to be great. So excited for him.
We all realized this 2 days ago, mate…Can we all now admit that this whole Ace Bailey "saga" was a largely ginned up to maximize clicks nothing burger?
All the hyperventilating about "will he or won't he" was just so much wasted breath and anxiety. The outcome was never really in doubt. I understand the desire for controversy to stir up interest. Sometimes that controversy is real and worthy of such intense interest; this was not one of those times.
Cooler, rationale heads didn't get caught up in it and saw it for what it was, but clicks it did generate, so ... Mission Accomplished.

If by "clearly something" you mean clearly a ginned up story aimed at getting eyeballs and clicks but otherwise overblown, then, yes, it was clearly something. No, it was clearly something
I think we can close this thread….
But we have an update! The update is.....no mar Omar. Per our own @Tony Jones

I know people got obsessed with what Omar was doing, but in the end this was predictable. It was just another episode of players trying to force their way somewhere and teams drafting them anyways.
As far as real impact....I'm wondering if "his team" consists of the same set of trainers etc. as before. Ace has some horrible habits that he will have to unwind to become a great player. I think he's been coached to play one way his entire life and it's not a recipe for success.

So... it wasn't the player forcing himself to a place. This was an "agent" forcing his player to a place that had the most work opportunity for him. Wiz just signed Sharife... wonder if they had promised Omar a spot somewhere?
This is very positive and I think it does create an environment where pros can work with Ace and guide him. Excited to see what he looks like this year.
I think this is a really unique "agent" situation. I heard some stuff (not from Andy or Tony) about some potential promises made or discussed with Omar. I'll just say the primary motivation of Omar was to take care of Omar.I think these situations are always a mix. I think Tony was spot on with this situation right from the get go. I was just a more public version of what had always been going on already. It's probably a lot more comfortable to make Omar happy than it is someone like Rich Paul (who bragged about getting Maluach to PHX).
Ace's case as a prospect really relies on his ability to change. Tbh, I felt like his comments about tough shots were the larger red flag during pre-draft. I liked him as a blank canvas type prospect, but his tough shot maker stuff wasn't too convincing. Hopefully he's open and able to change his habits.

Yeah the second summer league game gave me some real excitement... yup one stupid summer league game lol. I'm excited to see if he can develop... hoping it was a full reset of the basketball people around him and that having real coaching changes parts of his basketball nature.
