This video from 10/12, without audio, shows the agents vehicle was blocking the road, because they were making another arrest. When the agents vehicle pulled up, she proceeded forward, at which point the agents vehicle pulls a U turn and slams into her vehicle. So DHS lied in saying her vehicle hit theirs. These are the kind of guys Stephen Miller is unleashing on American streets. Gestapo style.

Cannot expect otherwise with Stephen Miller and Donald Trump running the show. Cruelty is certainly the point with Miller. Yet so many are blind to fascist style cruelty here in the United States. “It can’t happen here” was always a crock.

Hundreds of alleged human rights abuses in immigrant detention, report finds

The office of Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff asserts it “identified 510 credible reports of human rights abuse” against immigration detainees. DHS disputed the claims.

A monthslong probe by the office of Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., compiled hundreds of alleged human rights violations at immigration detention centers, according to a new report about his probe first obtained by NBC News.

The report states that Ossoff’s office has “identified 510 credible reports of human rights abuse” against people in immigration custody. Of these cases, 41 include allegations of physical or sexual abuse, as well as 18 alleged reports of mistreatment of children in custody, both U.S. citizens and noncitizens, and 14 alleged reports of mistreatment of pregnant women.

The report cites a Department of Homeland Security official who anonymously reported to Ossoff’s office seeing pregnant women sleeping on floors in overcrowded intake cells. It also stated that a pregnant detainee who spoke with Ossoff’s staff described repeatedly requesting medical attention and being told to “just drink water” instead of getting a checkup. Another detainee at an immigration processing center in Louisiana, who was six months pregnant, told Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., while the congresswoman was visiting the facility that she nearly miscarried twice after being detained, according to the report.

In response to an NBC News request for comment about the report’s allegations, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in an email, “Any claim that there are subprime conditions at ICE detention centers are false.”

According to her, all detainees who are in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody are provided with “proper meals, medical treatment, and have opportunities to communicate with lawyers and their family members.” She stated that from the moment they arrive at an ICE detention facility, detainees undergo medical, dental and mental health intake screenings, as well as follow-up health assessments and have access to 24-hour emergency care.

Why are so many people dying in ICE custody?​

In less than a year, the Trump administration has increased the number of people detained in ICE facilities by almost 50%.Currently, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) incarcerates close to 60,000 people. The administration’s push for mass detentions and deportations has led to overcrowding as most facilities now exceed their contractual capacity.

Across detention centers, overcrowding has resulted in dire and inhumane conditions. For example, a Massachusetts ICE field office used a windowless room as a holding area packed with “35 to 40 men” who had to share one toilet without privacy and sleep “head-by-toe” on the concrete floors. Similarly, at Krome Service Processing Center in Florida, people were forced to sleep on the floor and only given “a cup of rice and a glass of water a day.” ICE is refusing to give people enough food in some facilities and provides rotten food at other facilities. These reports are understandably alarming family members and advocates.

Overcrowding and poor hygiene can spread and exacerbate diseases, leading to deaths. But medical neglect in detention can lead to equally harmful consequences. Sick detainees are being denied care, leading to unnecessarily worsening medical conditions. NPR reported that a man with a “serious eye infection for almost two weeks” and a “fever” was denied medication for both conditions.
