The Non-Jazz NBA Thread in the Jazz Section

I do not think the Hornets want to trade for a 7'1" guy currently going through knee issues.
Sabonis is not 7' let alone 7'1". LaMelo has his own health issues too. I can absolutely see Vivek being enamored with LaMelo and the market being tepid enough for both guys that a Sabonis/Ball swap happens.

Danny to Austin if Fears ends up being a star.

I watched the Pelicans playing against Dallas and they looked solid. Queen and Fears already look very, very good and they are getting better every game. And the Pels got Zion back. New Orleans will start winning some games pretty soon and will overtake the Jazz.

Queen and Fears can look as good as they possibly can, Rookies aren't driving consistent wins

You are comparing rookies with the established players but the right comparison here is the current (and near-future) version of Queen and Fears vs. Queen and Fears in the first games of the season. The Pelicans gave their rookies tons of minutes early, even when they were clearly struggling. That was a big part of the reason why New Orleans was so so dreadful to start the season. By now they are considerably less bad and the team looks much stronger.

Of course, the wins will be secured by Herb Jones, Zion and Murphy (and their pretty decent bench), but the faster-than-expected improvement on part of Queen and Fears makes the work of the vets much easier. All they need to do is to outplay teams that will be blatantly tanking... and there will be so many tankers this season.

I find it refreshing to see the Pistons and Raptors at the top of the East standings right now. Don’t know if the Raptors can keep it up, but they've been playing great team ball so far.
