What's new

Game Thread Jan 03, 2026 08:00PM MT: Utah Jazz @ Golden State Warriors

I really don't get this: Jazz ain't anywhere near cotending and keeps playing Lauri crazy minutes. 41 minutes? Are you effing serious coach? What the heck? He could get his with lesser minutes and probably have better efg% as well. The style he plays as 7 footer isn't ideal to run I'm all the time 35-40 minutes. Lately he's played all the last 14-15 minutes straight without any breaks other than time outs. There's teams fighting for playoff seeds that play their stars less. Really needs to look for the minutes, it's better to not run him down in a season there's not much to win.
Ya 41 is way too much

Also, not so sure what about his game is extra taxing than normal, other than being a 7 footer.
Lauri runs. Constantly. Curling, cutting, going around screens, rolling. And being held and bumped all the time.

Even at that among 7 footers playstiles, I'd say his skews pretty decently towards below average physical burden (for a star, of course). The Jazz doesn't really play defense, he's not tasked with being a rim protector, nor is he a PoA defender, or someone the other teams offense looks to constantly target defensively.
The Jazz may not play defense, but Lauri does. And he doesn't take plays off, just because of who he is. He's also very often on the perimeter, tasked with guarding players much quicker than he is. Yesterday he was on Curry a ton after he started cooking. Being a rim defender (which he wouldn't be good at) would be so, so, so much easier. Stand there with one foot in the paint and wait.

Whatever energy Lauri expends and punishment he takes, it's not so much the bumping bodies that other bigs do and get. It's all the constant movement on both ends, and he's almost unique among 7 footers in that.

Draymond Green arguing at the ref’s as Markkanen is going right by him is pretty wild. If that’s not quitting on your team I don’t know what is. He owes his team and coach an apology imo.

Green is the most annoying NBA player ever. Everybody keeps saying he's getting ready for his media career post retirement, but who the hell wants to listen to him? Dude is already unbearable.

Lauri is typically on a three stint shift with two rest in between each half. Lately Hardy has been skipping the second rest in the second half which is why he’s playing 15 minutes straight. Feels very ill advised. If we were in a playoff series, maybe, but this feels like a desperate measure to win a game.

I wouldn’t advise doing this even if we were competing for the playoffs. Lauri is amazing, but he does not have a great injury history.

He is up there.
Boogie cousins, dray, Westbrook, and harden are my least favorite players of the last few decades anyways
100% Harden while in Houston was the biggest foul baiter in history but Westbrook grew on me actually the thing about him is he always plays hard and he doesn’t really foul bait.

I just have always hated how mad Westbrook is.
You are being paid millions to pay basketball. It's ok to smile sometimes.

Maybe, but part of what made him so good was how angry he played.

He definitely used it to his advantage.
Ya I'm just speaking to why he is one of my least liked players. I'm not a fan of people who act like assholes even if acting like an ******* is part of what makes them good.

I mean same goes for Draymond and rodman etc. Their mind games and douchebaggery probably makes them more effective players. Also makes me not like them though.

(Funny that adding an "s" to the word ******* makes it not be censored)

Im almost positive Westbrook is autistic, so I give him a bit of a pass.

Draymond just a bully who uses his status as a guy with a lot of rings to be an *******.
