What's new

2026 free agency

The shooting indicators are promising. I wonder what his numbers would look like if he wasn't hurt last year or trying to be a pg this year. Very bullish on Vince and I would want to get him out there enough to see what we have.

I think you could have an extension conversation with him this summer that could be a HUGE benefit to the team cap sheet if you can get comfortable with him. I think you could add years to his cheap deal or do the decline his option for next year in connection with signing an extension. Say you like what you see and decline the option and offer like 3/21M or something around there. Would likely be pretty tempting to take that even if he think he has a chance at a NAW type deal in 2027.

IMO, there's definitely something to his role tanking his efficiency. He's not a full time, ball dominant PG....and that's fine. But at the same time it's a little iffy to expect his 22/23 shooting numbers to return just from a different role. I think his above the break three ball percentage that year was unsustainable. But he did shoot the ball well in college, so that's a bonus for him.

The good thing is that he still seems to find a way to impact the game positively (or at least not strongly negative) without shooting/scoring well. If we had to win a game tomorrow with everyone healthy, I'd probably start him.

Start him over Bailey or Key? Naw. . .

I would like Nurk back on a reasonable contract for 3 years.
With what cap-space?
If team like Wizards etc gives max offer for Kessler it will be difficult for the Jazz to match.

Markkanen and Jackson costs combined 95M USD that's 60% of Jazz cap-space for 2 allstar caliber players.
Even a child knows that without trades etc decisions Jazz cannot keep Kessler, George and Nurkic.
So who you let go Markkanen and Jackson aren't going or leaving anywhere that's a damn sure.

CLE isn't going to be able to keep both Ellis and Dean Wade. These two are better Luke Walton allstars than Luke Walton.

PS: It's SHOCKING that Ellis is good again. Nobody could have ever predicted that the Kings did a dumb thing.

Vince Williams could be the Luke Walton all star we need next to Key btw. Defense, some ball handling/passing, hopefully some shooting. Doesn't have the same PG savvy, but think Kris Dunn.

He's spreadsheet approved as well:

If the rules allow, they should extend him in the offseason (and they’ll have good leverage since he’s on a team option for <$3 million).
