I think each team will have their preferred order of players, but yeah. . . I think it’s safe to pick whichever one you have left on your board at that point.
I think it’s
1 - Flagg
2 - Harper
3/4/5 - Eye of the beholder between Bailey, Edgecombe and Johnson. Definitely think those 3 guys are solidly in that third tier though.
To be fair, a lot of us hated that pick. I would’ve rather had Marcus Smart or Julius Randle after Aaron Gordon jumped up inside the top 4.
And to be fair to Exum, he was a decent player. . . just made if glass.
Lots of good things there. Some thoughts just based on what I saw. . .
A.) He’s a straight 5 like Kessler. But he has a lot of upside at that spot.
B.) Wish he would’ve set better screens. Don’t think I saw him set a clean one in any of the highlights.
C.) Good box out and solid hands...
The good thing about Lauri is the Jazz can trade him for real value, or just keep him and trade everyone else. There’s no pressure to actually make a move now that the long-term contract is in place.
On the other hand. . . Collins, Sexton and Clarkson all need to go now that they’re expiring...
He’s still a baby. I’ll worry about how he looks 2 years from now. If he still looks lost or doesn’t add more weight and strength by then. . . at that point I’ll worry. Pick has already been made - just have to hope he’s a pro and has the grind to get better.
At some point, some of the young guys are going to get packed into deals for vets to fill out the roster. He either gets bigger and improves, or he makes it an easy call. I still like him and think it’s stupid to compare him to his brother - especially when their college careers were so...
Man, it would really suck to trade Lauri. . . but I wouldn’t hate that return under the circumstances. Jazz get two top 5 pucks this year? Let’s say it’s Harper and any of Edgecombe, Johnson or Bailey?
That would help make the future look brighter.
