Gotta stop putting your future success into lottery balls. Better off playing with other teams picks and just building the best team you can with your assets. Sucks that the Jazz have basically crapped away 4 years on the hope of hitting a top 4 pick and they miss out every time.
It’s unconventional, but the Knicks should be looked at as a decent example of how to build a team by adding talent, churning the roster and striking when opportunities arise.
Looking at the NHL lottery, I actually think that’s a better lottery system now. Do it live and only two teams move up, with a maximum of 10 spots you can improve by. Worst teams still get the best odds for the top players and you don’t fall dramatically if the lottery luck goes elsewhere.
That trade was terrible at the time and even worse now. Big freaking mistake. I have no idea why any team would make a trade like that - regardless of how good you think you may end up being.
I agree with this. Hoping and praying for lottery luck is a Fool’s errand. The stupid *** Favors trade has hamstrung this team for years now. Just go get the best players you can and look to exploit opportunities that come up.
The first step is going to be praying that #5 is “the guy” that can...
The silver lining is that you simply can’t hope to tank your way out of a bad situation. You have to be proactive, not reactive. Jazz can’t be passive in building their team moving forward.
Not sure how the Jazz fix this, but I’m definitely hoping Tre Johnson ends up being a franchise caliber...
Jazz need talent. Cooper Flagg is possibly a generational talent. He’s the best fit with anybody the Jazz currently or will in the future have in this team.
Actually, that’s a great point, and exactly how I’m looking at the Jazz situation. There’s 5 guys that I’m elated to get, but my excitement grows exponentially for each spot above 5 that the Jazz move up to.
Since they flattened the odds

I was thinking about how NIL might actually help the NBA by giving guys more time to develop before decisions need to be made, having more European players taking the guaranteed money and competing here in the US (even if just for a year or two) and improving the depth of each draft. If teams...
Which is fine, because the Jazz don’t need to hit on those picks. . . but every guy that comes back for NIL just makes the depth of the next draft that much better. I’m hoping it’s stocked to the brim in 2027 when the Jazz have 3 picks to play with (the Lakers pick and the best two of their own...
I don’t care one lick about how the Wolves do now that it doesn’t impact the pick for this year. For the next 12 months, I’d love to see their talent level depleted so they’re in garbage shape when the picks start coming due again.
Would LOVE to see their cheap(ish) contributors all get priced...
