So what I'm thinking is for instance could our FO have their tiers set up something like this:
Tier 1 - Flagg
Tier 2 - Harper
Tier 3 - Ace and Tre
Tier 4 - VJ and Kas (+ someone?)
???
The trio is widely considered to be in their own tier and we all obviously have our preferences within the tier. But trying to get inside DA's head is also instructive in predicting how the draft may unfold. I dont see anyone being vocal about not wanting one of these guys, but is there a chance...
Sure, but we can also just not extend him at that point.
I dont think its a good idea to decline his options. I mean we arent going anywhere right now, so may as well see if something happens in years 3-4 even if year 2 is same same.
I think for every vet you need to go through the thought process. There are questions such as:
Do they provide something valueable that helps the development of our youngsters? This is TOP priority since we wanna max out the outcome for the next iteration, and that is more valueable than what...
According to his interviews he has no weaknesses in his game and he doesnt actually take tough shots because he practices all of them (ala THT).
Either he is cocky or pretending to be cocky to display extreme confidence... but he definitely isnt grounded.
I'm actually leaning that way as well. I think his offensive load excuses some coasting on defense, but thats hopium and not really part of the reason why I like him.
He is a flamethrower who engages a lot with the crowd and draws energy from them much like JC. But unlike JC he doesnt do...
Oh so now KD cant beat anyone off the dribble? Yet he still somehow managed 26.6 PPG.... I wonder if that has anything to do with him being a 7 footer who shoots 50/40/85?
Keep digging.
Of course you pop in with one of these backhand truisms.. except his argument has this entire time been that its his athleticism that starts to decline.
Bravo.
That wasnt the case in previous two seasons. This year they wanted a high pick bad but felt its better to keep the vets dusting in the corners.
I think the problem in this seasons approach is more related to what it does to the value of those vet contracts.. but having them around is better for...
What "norm"? Where are the comparison points for 7 foot snipers who wash out of the league due to age and injury that early?
KD has ruptured his achilles and he had a stress facture already at the age of 26. He is still here.
Besides your defense argument holds no water when you already...
What? We have had plenty of vets in our roster for a rebuilding/tanking team for the past 3 years. One could say "too many" rather than too few.
I would understand such ceiticism if it was directed towards Washington, Portland or even Charlotte...
Again. You are not justifying either:
A) Why Markkanen would start losing his athleticism at age 30
B) Why is it that it impacts his game so dramatically
In the world of analytics 3s and dunks are what teams want. Those are the two things he can do effectively well into his 30s due to his size...
I also read some other Athletic reporter saying that he has sensed that NBA execs like VJ better than Ace.
If Ace is available at 5 though, Zanik will sprint to the podium faster than he did with Cody. There is no way DA passes on Ace, ever.
Yeah I also cant point my finger on one thing... but its just anywhere I look there is something off.
- dribbling
- passing
- shot selection
- general efficiency / consistency
- perimeter shooting
- rim finishing
- rebounding
- on-ball defense
- off-ball defensive awareness
- effort / motor
-...
You arent justifying your timeline here at all. Apart from NFL running backs, 30 isnt even close to father time for pro athletes these days.
Lauri is obviously taking care of his body. Dude looks like a statue carved by Michaelangelo.
